I have a feeling Trump is going to try to restart the economy and the govenors, especially the blue state govenors are going to ignore his advice. He will attack those govenors and say "I told you guys the dems want the total destruction of the US economy." Or, something like that.
I think your prediction on what Trump does is basically correct in timing, but I think he is also going to put some teeth in his "order." My guess is that he is going to tie federal aid to compliance with his order-in basic contradiction to the $2T relief act. One of the many reasons he is trying to eliminate all oversight.

Yes. I agree. That will create all kinds of havoc. If he starts the economy too soon and we go from 560k infected and 22k dead to 5m infected and 500k dead that will be on his presidency. I dislike Trump but what he is facing is very daunting for sure. Do you start the economy and force state govenors to obey, while ignoring the fact that many many more Americans are now sick and/or dying. Or, do you continue to practice social distancing while the deepening economic pain. IMO, the truth is going to rear its ugly head. You can open everything up, and people aren't going to feel safe going into restaurants. bars, etc... While this virus is still a threat. I know that I'm not going anywhere near a restaurant while people are still getting sick. Many people aren't going to be in the mood to spend money when thousands are still getting sick. I live in NJ, and I doubt our Govenor is going to pay much attention to Trump.
