The Washington Post and the New York Times both wrote Monday night about President Trump’s increasingly overt attempts to divide the American electorate by stoking racial fears. That same night, Trump used a very telling word that both confirms that narrative and threatens to divide our country even more.

Trump decided to call himself a “nationalist.”

“A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly, not caring about our country so much. And you know what? We can’t have that,” Trump said at a rally in Texas. “You know, they have a word — it’s sort of became old-fashioned — it’s called a ‘nationalist.' And I say, really, we’re not supposed to use that word. You know what I am? I’m a nationalist, okay? I’m a nationalist. Nationalist. Nothing wrong. Use that word. Use that word.”

Bannon and the White supremacists can be proud. It's not like we didn't already know.

You do know that elevating the world helps the US, right? That stronger alliances and supporting the less fortunate means less political tension and fewer conflicts over resources? It's much more like "The Wealthy First" and screw everybody else. Since having taking over the gov't Trump and these Repub assholes up there on the hill have been much more than blatant about it too.

Financially he is a globalist when it comes down to managing his personal wealth because American banks see him as a big risk and won't give him the financing he needs to keep his scams rolling along. So he now owes his ass to Russian oligarchs and Saudi Royals among others yet he claims to be a "natonalist?" Well yeah, fer sure when it comes to his desire for isolating the American populace to better control their lives as he sees fit.

He is an accomplished liar but only for the fact that there are millions of folks who are being lied to that are downright suckers for wanting to hear those lies for no other apparent reason than it makes them feel good about themselves.

There's a difference between simply running your country (which Trump doesn't really do a good job of as it is) and being a nationalist. Nationalists often emphasize mindless patriotism and often see international politics as a zero sum game where you must hurt other countries to further your own interests.
