The first one: I dismissed it immediately because of this lie " decreasing the number of USDA inspectors and replacing them with company employees to do key food safety inspection tasks."
The USDA addressed this not only in a previous statement I posted, but here: https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/porta...se-archives-by-year/archive/2019/nr-040819-01 Its a flat out lie.

The second one: I stopped at ""The implementation of the rule will result in the fox guarding the henhouse. With less government oversight over hog slaughter inspection, big meat companies will have the freedom to inspect themselves and push towards their goal of increasing line speeds,"
First, the first claim is an outright lie. Second, there are alot of "could, "might", and "may" in there. Thats alot of unfounded speculation. And finally about line speed, thats also a "could". As noted in previous statements by both the USDA and the pork industry that I posted, the line supervisor has the freedom to adjust line speed as necessary.

The 3rd one: more of the same from the second. And you may have missed the line "Citing its pilot program, the USDA says it doesn't expect speeds to significantly increase "

Now, with that all said, is there cause for concern at all? Of course. That is always a concern when modernizing anything. But the cherry picking of negative "might be, could be, may be" is just fluff. And of course, as previously posted, this has NOTHING to do with Trump.
This worked out so well with the 737 Max huh?

Replacing USDA inspectors with company employees sounds akin to replacing climate scientists with oil & coal plant employees. Who's interests do you think they'll have in mind? The guy who pays their check or the people consuming their products?

First, a note to keep in mind, is this is NOT a required switch. It is is voluntary. Secondly, plant workers are NOT replacing federal inspectors for food inspections. Period.

Will plant employees replace federal inspectors?Under NSIS, plant employees conduct certain man-uallabortaskssoFSISinspectorscanfocusonmore technical food safety tasks, which is a more appropriate use of an inspector’s time and exper-tise. However, inspectors still have oversight of the employee-performed tasks. Inspectors, also, con-tinue to inspect 100 percent of live animals prior to slaughter and all carcasses after slaughter.

Excuse me but like the 737 MAX we can't trust certain industries to do their own inspections.

The methods are directly related, just a different product

You speak as though federal inspectors will no longer be inspecting. Read my previous post, sir.

Why change it to begin with. what's the upside to the change?

Do you comprehend the written word? The USDA has stated why. It requires you to read something other than this thread though. Ive posted several links that explain the why.

Do you eat chicken? The U.S. has the worst chicken of all the industrialized nations.

Yes, eggs and chicken daily. I say the same thing about chicken. If it looks gross, not buying it. If I open it and it doesn't smell right, I'll return it.

We dont much ground stuff tho, that's where that "on the verge" stuff can be hidden easily.

Chicken would be much more difficult for me to do without.

Plants under traditional regulations process between 571 to 1,149 pigs per hour daily, with an average of 977 animals processed per hour.

Christ, I guess I never thought about the raw numbers of animals slaughtered. Amazing.

You can't smell salmonella. Allowing our pork quality to get as bad as our chicken quality is not a good idea.

Like I trust the USDA's talking points...https://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/21/trump-agriculture-department-usda-campaign-workers-242951

President Donald Trump’s appointees to jobs at Agriculture Department headquarters include a long-haul truck driver, a country club cabana attendant and the owner of a scented-candle company.

A lot of anti-Trump type social justice warriors didn't care when the meat industry started busting unions and lowering the salaries of what used to be a decent wage job by hiring illegals in the name of profits, because as long as you got your cheap pork you didn't give a damn and were brainwashed to believe you are doing the illegal a favor by giving them jobs Americans won't do.

And now they might lower the standards in the name of profit and it may directly affect the end consumer you all start crying bloody murder.

The world is so very dark. So dark... If only we could get rid of all the liberals the sun would come back and the world would be bright again.

And I still suggest stamp collecting.

It doesn`t mean I cannot comment on the subject ort even have an opinion!
The article on the whole is sketchy at best! It actually sounds like somebody hollering WOLF.....when as
blackangst1 pointed out -- ever heard of medernization? Define Lax -- a 2% red8uction is hardly Lax....no a 50% reduction would bhe considered Lax!!

Look at post #67 and read my bolded quote and tell me you trust the USDA Trump appointed lackeys to know what they're doing.

You didn`t even read your own article......
Nowhere in that article does it even mention pork or any kind of meat inspection or for that matter agricultural inspection! As was stated earlier by somebody else....before responding perhaps you sgould read the article the OP posted and then also read whwever you are going to post!
What you bolded has nothing to do with what the OP posted...
