Yes, and this will happen regardless of what she does or says or accomplishes. The GOP did this with Obama, they demonized him, accused him, railed against him, fought him at every turn, plotted from the beginning how to deny him a 2nd term. I expect no less from them regarding the HRC administration. Nothing else is possible, nothing. Well, anything's possible, but I don't expect anything else.

The wonder to me is how the GOP hold majorities in the senate and house considering what they have done, what they represent. TBH, I don't understand how they've managed to demonize the term liberal and canonize the word conservative.

Maybe they hold the legislative branch largely by virtue of gerrymandering. If they lose that advantage they may find themselves indeed marginalized for a long long time.

Agreed.

And not only that, the GOP has managed to continually isolate itself with Trump doing an absolutely marvelous job of it.

It seems as though that fear driven pull to the right the GOP thought would (and did) gain them wins has created a self-sustaining, self-defeating cycle that's pulling them ever further to the right and they're not able to get a handle it. It's spiraled out of their control.

Dark days ahead for the party that needs to be more inclusive rather than being exclusive and insulative. That ploy may have been good for them in the short term, but look at what it did to them now.

That you think the sentiments expressed here are from "the far left" and not the centrist middle left shows just how much "thinking" you actually do.

LOOK! Behind you! A socialist!! (Watches dead smiley's sadly overdeveloped amygdala explode in fear and anxiety overdrive.)

What makes you think people here are far left, specifically? What do you think you are?

The Don has revealed to me the level of classical conditioning amongst Republican voters, especially religious types, as they will accept anything under their banner irrespective of the physical evidence before them that raises red flags to any critical thinker. Add to that confidence bias as they rebuke any additional evidence that comes forward about their party messiah that any thinking person would look at and throw up over.

It's Donald groping their amygdalas. He wouldn't do it if he didn't think they were pretty, would he? They've yearned for the touch of a great amygdala groper since Reagan & before. Being afraid makes life so much more interesting.

Yeah..That rhetoric in that Palm Beach speech is usually described as "New World Order" conspiracy theory type stuff. Setting up the Clinton's as the leaders of a vast global conspiracy...sheesh! Alex Jones, is that you?

You act like the lid hasn't been blown open on the collusion and corruption and dishonesty

The only question left is what did the Clinton's sell to make that quarter billion dollars?

There's two very different characters here, trump and his audience.

Trump is a spoiled brat who never grew up, who honed through a lifetime of pitiful scams and his reality show a notable talent for manipulating minds stuck in molasses. Even those of us who aren't acquainted with exactly such a person have surely known of separate individuals with portions of that personality, esp. back in school before we had the freedom to choose different paths in life.

Trump's audience are possessors of the said conservative "old ways are best" brain, which I think most have at least met here and there. Though such a mindset acts as natural defense against nouveau whimsy, it becomes a liability in modern times where reality has typically done parted ways with tradition. This is a key point, since ostensibly in a more idyllic time it would've been liberals whose ideals about progress would've been fanciful. So these people are mentally still living in a past that's no longer the case, when they had social status by birthright---some combination of white, male, american, middle class, etc.

To connect these two, the approach of the con artist in this situation is simply promise a return to that world, back away from modernity, where the audience won't have to be considered equals of the opposing foreigny ethnic types under the patronage of liberal elites. Notice what they most instinctively fear is that very archetype. It also helps that trump's projected image is the perfect embodiment of what they aspire to: rich old paternal merican rather proud of himself. They will gladly cast away jesus or whatever other flimsy rationalizations for what's really important here.

Viewed in this context, his well-aimed speeches and the reaction they garner from the audience make perfect sense.
Haha and what is it about modern times that is so vastly different than the past?

You made a rude and incorrect statement implying that anyone who does not bow before The Donald must be on "the far left" of the political spectrum. As a fiscal conservative and social moderate I do find that insulting.

Apparently all of the Republican party members rejecting him are on "the far left" too. Anyone left of David Duke?

I never said anything about bowing. I don't think any American should bow before anyone. Also, I am not a Republican.

You have initially come across as being a bit simple and slow. Actually, it seems more that that is how you are contriving to portray yourself, and what you really are is a sly, dishonest troll, because your, "Aw, shucks, I never said anything about bowing, I don't think any American should bow before anyone" country cousin shtick really isn't fooling anyone, unless you really are a simpleton who just fell off the alt right turnip truck.

Trump supporters are hard at work drumming up support for Hair Furor:

I live near KKK headquarters, and I want to make sure everyone sees the paper they left in my driveway, promoting #TrumpPence16. His base: pic.twitter.com/cWVf3LhDus

Regarding that paper left in their driveway...

Who says Trump hasn’t won any newspaper endorsements? Here’s one from “The Premier Voice of The White Resistance.” https://t.co/Olgy6a5YK1

So we have a party that welcomes religious fanatics, white supremacists, hard nosed reactionary Tea Party legislators that are firmly stuck in obstruct mode, a base that's gone off the reservation and got adopted by Trump AND millions of moderates that refuse to rein in these extremists for the sake of their own party's survival.

Why, that's a winning formula the likes of which we may never have the pleasure and disgust of ever seeing again.

I hope.

Repub leaders' insincerity is catching up to them. So is their greed, arrogance & complacency. Doubling down on trickle down & obstructionism in the wake of the collapse of the Ownership Society scam has lined their pockets & doubling down on the culture war at the same time set the stage for the Donald.

this thread is about Trump which you haven't even mentioned, instead you attacked and disparaged other posters in this thread with a broad and incorrect label.

and you are really questioning why you would be insulted?

Considering Oroo is liking his posts and he has only 30, I'd probably imagine dead_smiley is probably one of his buddies like the other that has not shown up in a long time.
