Do you think North Korea forgot we can nuke them?
Got a link for that schedule?

Even still it is a timely show of force. Are you saying that it isn't?

It's a useless gesture. Us obliterating NK is not the problem, it's the fact they can kill hundreds of thousands in SK and we can't stop them.

Everyone knows this (to be fair, our CIC is just learning this...). This has been NKs counter for decades.

This pointless dick wagging is just raising the danger level and tempting NK to strike first and take down SK/Japan with them.

President Best Deals is threatening hostage-taking suicide bombers with grenades...

To be even more fair, noone knew that solving the NK problem could be so complicated

This pointless dick wagging is just raising the danger level and tempting NK to strike first and take down SK/Japan with them.

I dont think so, if there is anything more than anything the Kim lineage has proven over time it is self preservation (at the cost of whatever, whomever). I dont see a preemptive "gonna take em down with me" suicide move from a Kim.

Would have been a good time to use one of those mother of all bombs, LOL.

Really quite childish actually. Let's line up all our guns and fire them into the ocean and hope someone will notice. Well, we obviously did notice, but they won't reach Japan let alone the US.

Solution to North Korea problem
Step one. United States finally lets go of its massive schlong long enough to sign whatever documents to end the end the war. Withdraw forces from South Korea.
Step two. Restart reunification negotiations and watch NK squirm as it can no longer use the United States presence as their paranoia engine. NK will look down at the rusty crap they been running with and now realize that their southern cousin is like REALLY buff and not to be messed with.
Step three - South Korea renames itself to Hyundai and announces "Never mind... you keep all that and we will keep ours. You can call yourself Korea...lol" (New Hyundain flag will include a "lol" at the bottom)

Step 4 - After being rejected by everyone stateside, Donald Trump builds a big beautiful wall between the nation of Hyundai and North Korea.
Step 5 - China, seeing that western country did something big goes ahead and builds a taller wall at their border with Korea based on an old Russian design they bought at a flea market.
Step 6 - Iran works out a deal with North Korea to build cars in a new factory out of Pyongyang based on a 1968 Fiat 850 that has been stretched and widened to hold 8 people. It looks like a knockoff of a Ford Excursion but it has the same wheelbase and engine as the original Fiat 850.
Step 7 - New Korea has a series of military coups where each coup is done by older, shorter and skinnier Generals until finally there are no more uniforms available to fit the new pygmy people of New Korea.
Step 8 - World watches as the ruins of Korea are returned to nature, where the only people left are synchronized, crying children who all carry notepads in honor of their dear leader who is now a large Orangutan.

Wwwwwwwwwwwelp. Nice knowing (most of) y'all.

Hope it doesn't come to that.

But before we all die in a nuclear war, Please tell me what this "welp" phrase is all about?
Is it code for something? A regional thing?

I've only seen it used by a few posters on Anandtech...what gives?

I'd pay good money to go watch a movie based on that script.

The only real "solution" to the Korea problem that doesn't leave millions dead is to let Jong Un have his nukes and his kingdom and leave them the F alone. Eventually Jong Un will die or be overthrown and we will have peace. Until then, it's not worth a confrontation with a guy who has nukes and nothing to lose.

Pakistan is arguably less stable and just as hostile to US interests, yet we don't hear the same hysterics about removing their nuclear capabilities. Israel constantly threatens its neighbors with nuclear annihilation and has never signed any treaties. What makes North Korea so special?

no idea the derivation, but I've always interpreted it as a local/colloquial version of "well"

it long predates AT and, I think, anyone alive today on this planet.

Synchronized tooth brushing performed by 10,000 children to the tune of "Our dear leader, unicorn rider of goodness-ess" in a stadium built by the love of "He who made the thing that is good, and is useful"

That is the point however. Un is not going to endanger his sweet ass for any reason. They are not going to nuke South Korea, Japan or anyone else. They just need to be reminded every now and then. That is one of the many reasons we have Joint Military Games every year with South Korea.

if this war does go down, we will absolutely demolish the NK military if this is their idea of going to war. it seems they haven't learned lessons the British learned in the American Revolution.

Don't be daft. They did this as a stunt, much like Donald and his stunt with cruise missiles.

FWIW if you had as much artillery as is shown in that picture you'd be in the top 15 militaries on earth in terms of # of artillery pieces operated. Seems pretty impressive to me, but what do I know I'm just some rich liberal american douchebag.

Indeed it does, as a road post to anyone reading this thread; "If you want informed analysis, look elsewhere. We about to go full retard up in here and argue that the north koreans have somehow regressed to 18th century battle tactics."

I don't know if you're aware, but artillery is still pretty important when you fight somebody 4-30km away (with 4km DMZ making small arms and mortars mostly useless). Where do you think south korea is?
