I would think they should be able to get an injection against this while the matter is still in court. Trump has no authority to remove the protection of these lands and mining on them would do permanent damage.

If the company does go forward with it, when the EO gets thrown out, hopefully the company gets sued as well.

Where the company might make bank is if Trump's monument rollback is ruled illegal and the taxpayers end up shelling out cash to compensate this company for a "taking" of their claims.

In reference to the Atlantic Ocean reserve:

Classic battle between corporate greed desiring to slake its thirst for instant profits at the cost of long term stability of a resource. If I understand resource management of ocean resources correctly, providing protected areas of our territorial waters provides a safe haven for endangered species to breed and populate areas outside of the reserves provided for them where commercial fishing can occur.

It seems to be a rather logical answer to the threat that overfishing for insatiable quick profit brings to bear.
