Exactly why I'm not all that excited about Comeit's statements. I keep reading these articles about how damaging it's likely to be and I just purse my lips and smh.
The one thing Trump might have been right about in his entire presidency is when he called Comey a grandstanding showboat. He (Comey) might just want a public hearing so that he can get on TV and show us all what an "honorable" guy he is by not ratting out or revealing anything about Trump after Trump fired him.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong, and I'll be happy if I am.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) has told the Trump administration he will no longer pursue the post of FBI director. The second-ranking GOP senator interviewed for the job last weekend.
“Now more than ever the country needs a well-credentialed, independent FBI director. I’ve informed the administration that I’m committed to helping them find such an individual, and that the best way I can serve is continuing to fight for a conservative agenda in the U.S. Senate," Cornyn said in a statement.

Too soon to tell if the disclosure of classified intel has hurt Trump, but the approval polls are in since the Comey firing and according to fivethirtyeight, he's now dipped slightly below 40% average approval.

If this trend continues to where he's down to even 37-38%, I predict we'll see more GOP in Congress distancing themselves from him.
