Trump wanting to imprison journalists should not raise any alarms, right? We just all assumed that, right?

It's probably only a matter of time before Trump instructs that body guard of his to go rough up someone that has offended him.

So at what point do Republicans make the strategic calculation that they'd be better off in the 2018 midterms with Pence in office than Donnie, despite the damage from having him removed from office?

They would sacrifice the "new voters" that Trump brought out--those racist, white supremacist, gamergater bottom feeders and swamp denezins, plus a great number of evangelicals that prostrated themselves at the feet of Trump, in hopes that he would burn the world down, as a harbinger of Jesus's return to claim the saved. There would be great resentment and bitterness among the republican base that put their heart into this fat, naked, clown of an emperor. Either way, it's suicide for Pubs. I do not doubt that they are resigned to being the temporary kings of Shit Hill.

Who to believe, who to believe, Comey's written accounts in his memos or Trump ? Hmmm, tough one there. In the normal course of operations I would assume this alone would be enough to put an end to this lunatic's tenure as President, probably not though.

Another example of how dumb Trump is. He would have known he crossed the line and Comey could out him for that, fired him anyways. Dumb and corrupt, terrible mix.

And yet still to be dismissed as Comey clearly fabricating these memos and stories at the time of the meetings to shame Trump in the future if he fired him.

I'd guess now someone will subpoena him and ask him to testify under oath about what Trump said ? If it happens publicly it will be an explosion of a new level for Trump, beyond all the disasters he's caused so far.

Expect the alt-right Russian fake news propaganda machine to start a ramp-up against Comey. By the end of the week there will be accounts he smells like sulfur and is the spawn of a lovechild between Satan and Hillary.

Right after they pass their massive tax cuts.

Mark my words, that is all the Republicans care about and once they get it passed (assuming trump is too stupid to know what's going on), the repubs will drop him like a brick!

And there it is

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/16/graham-comey-firing-senate-238463

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has invited former FBI Director James Comey to testify publicly at a Senate hearing, the South Carolina Republican said Tuesday.

Comey previously declined a request to testify on Tuesday in closed session before the Senate Intelligence Committee, but The New York Times reported Comey would be willing to testify in an open session.

“I’ve asked Comey to come before the Judiciary Committee to tell his side of the story," Graham told reporters. “I think it would be good for him if he did. It would be good for the country.”

Every day there's something new. I can't even keep up with all this. It's exhausting. Can we please just make him go away?

I don't know. I think that with a few conversations with Pence they could get him to take up the mantel of KKK-in-Chief. He is already well known as a homophobic bigot, all it would take is to get him in front of a crowed and to make some dogwhisle remarks, maybe hire a social media specialist to make some carefully planned inflammatory tweets about 'illegals' and vaguebook about 'Fix'n Merica' attached to a picture of certain parts of Detroit. In a few weeks he would be as loved as Trump. After all, the people that still believe in Trump are not exactly the smartest among us.

I think it's safe to say in the unlikely event Trump is removed from office, I highly doubt Pence would be able to get much done or reelected with all the baggage.
I don't like Pence but I can't imagine him being involved with a Russian cover up. He too clean.

Yeah if Trump is actually impeached not only will that take months but it will probably leave whoever ends up running the wreckage politically neutered.

yep. It will essentially be like an empty seat in the WH until 2020...kinda like how the Pubs relished that year-long empty seat at SCOTUS.

I just hope it takes the family business down with him.

Nah it won't happen but they may have to lower the rates.

Being serious I highly doubt we'll see Trump impeached however if we do there will be a bunch of angry, pissed off Trumpsters. Just look at these forums or yesterday's CNN interview with a bunch of Trump supporters. They firmly believe Trump is the only guy to bring back jobs and they give zero fucks about Russian interference or the FBI/Comey stuff.
I'm not talking armed resistance more like constant shitting on things.

Hopefully the voters remember who waited "strategically" and who acted like a patriot when the time comes.

Ah, who am I kidding. No one will care when the narrative is re-written.

Pence is a lying sack. He's a part of it. He knew what Flynn was up to.

I think one of the most realistic things is that there are some behind the curtain meetings between the FBI, the Senate investigative, board, ect and Trump and his lawyers. They are going to make the situation very clear to him. Stick around and we WILL impeach you and then move on to full prosecution. You lose the highest position in the world, your business, your lifestyle. Your kid's empire will be destroyed. Your name will be shit from here on out.

Or. Walk away. Go back to your business. And try not to fuck that up too. We are watching and know what you are up to.

Then he resigns stating his business and family has been too much of a distraction and that in the best interest of the American people and his family that he steps down.

I'm not so sure about that it's all speculative but I think Pence is like the responsible father (like Mike Bradley). I can easily see a conversation with Brannon and Roger Stone getting interrupted because Pence entered the room. I can also easily imagine Pence being told "We need someone to plan out a Church tour for us next month, can you do that for us Mr. Pence?" And him gleefully skipping out of the room to plan out the Church Tour.
