Hey....
Actually the bracelet is a pretty good deal.

I don't see an issue. Where did she accept any pay for any play?

Thread title is wrong. And story is BS.

There are some rules about the President endorsing stuff. Remember a few years ago when Obama said he liked some shoes(?) and the vendor started using that. Can Trump resist plugging his hotels and ties and trinkets?
Personally if he occasionally mentions them I'm alright with it but will his enemies D& R feel the same.

The story that was linked had nothing to do with the president doing anything.

The President himself should not endorse anything. His kids are free Americans and can do what they wish as long as it is legal. Which this is.

These are just minor details. Trump is to blame no matter the facts.

I think the question is should they be doing it in the White House.

They didn't do anything in the White House. They aren't there Yet, He isn't the President Yet. Ivanka isn't even the President Elect.

No story found. Lots of BS, but no story.

They weren't in the white house, Ivanka is not part of government in any official capacity or a government official. Further, she did absolutely nothing except wear a bracelet during an interview. She didn't promote it during the interview or even mention it at all. The company that sells that jewelry (I'm assuming she owns it, but I don't know) then promoted that item because it was seen by so many on TV. Again, I'd love for someone to explain how a private citizen wearing a bracelet and then selling that bracelet is in any way an issue.

WTF did you not understand about what I posted. Go back and read it again.

You said there are rules about the president endorsing stuff and would he be able to resist hawking his wares.... but the thread was about Ivanka's bracelet and "whoring out the white house". Obviously she's not the president, just tongue in cheek. Sometimes forums are not a good medium to convey things

and she was on 60 Minutes because on her own she is so fucking newsworthy??

You sound angry; I hear they're giving out playdough to help people cope. Your statement has nothing to do with my reply or the post I was quoting. If you have a problem, talk to the 60 Minutes staff for inviting her.

I directly responded to your post. Her apprearance on 60 Minutes is because her father is PE. She is using his position for self-aggrandizement. If you think getting rich off her fathers position is ok then discussion is over.

Just a side note Billy Carter did this and was considered low rent so I'm not surprised.

That family will never come close to the grace and class of the current occupants.

I was correcting the inaccurate statement that she was actively selling her products on air, that is all. Your response is that she wouldn't be in the interview if her father hadn't won the election. Well no shit.

As to her making money off of her father's new position, no I don't think she should profit directly. The latest on this story is that an advertising staffer at her company emailed their retailers alerting them that the jewelry was worn on 60 minutes. They're also implementing new procedures to account for the new situation.

Others have mentioned Chelsea getting $600k / year from NBC; apparently to do Pulitzer prize worthy interviews with the Geico Gecko. Thoughts on that topic?

Hillary used her husband's presidency to build up her own political career. Think she'd ever get paid half a million for a speech if her husband were not elected in '92? And last time I checked, Michelle Obama is profiting off her husband's position:

I'd be surprised if you as well never got a discount somewhere, or got a job offer, due to a friend or relative.

Let me introduce you to a story titled "How the World Works." Please try not to be so pathetic next time you attempt an argument, okay?

I did not know Ivanka was married to Trump.. (?)
But wait, she is trying to bring her husband to White House?
Donald Trump’s Son-in-Law, Jared Kushner, Tests Legal Path to White House Job
So... you're argument is it's okay for a spouse, but not a child, to build off the success of another? Do you seriously believe the Clinton or the Obama kids are not engaging in activities for personal wealth do to their parents' positions?

Please, people, these conversations could be so much more productive if you actually put some thought into your words before hitting the submit button!
