Fired, clearance pulled, unable to work in my field, arrested, deposed, tried, fined, most likely imprisoned. I assume that’s what would happen to lowly old me if I mishandled just a handful of Confidential docs that had other caveats. Signals or human intelligence info? Definite long prison time. If I lied to the Feds, or refused to return docs - long prison time.

And that would be for just a few docs, not necessarily highly classified. If a normal guy, I'll call him Nonald J Rrump, had that volume of docs, he’d be interrogated very thoroughly to help determine the damage. Add in signals and human intelligence, and Nonald would never be free again. If any human assets were harmed, I assume regular guy Nonald might be executed.

Nonald, er I mean Donald is now claiming he stole the classified documents so he could display them in his library.

Cool. It’s always good when a potential defendant openly admits they had some purpose for the material that's illegal for them to have.

And to add to the above. Okay you stole the classified documents. But your wife and children know about it and freely rifled through them. They will still be held accountable. So that lame excuse the "staff" packed it doesn't hold water. Yes, yes ignoring the fact NARA was in constant communication for the last 20 months just adds to the guilt.

Your statement is insane.

Democracy is based on compromise. All or nothing attitudes are contrary to democratic principles. All or nothing in reality ends up being just nothing. Nihilism, as policy.
of course no party is going to perfectly represent any one individual's positions. which means that the remainder of the party's platform (whatever you don't agree with) is the comrpomise.

so let's suppose you're against abortion, support low taxes on businesses, and minimal socioeconomic support, but you don't support an authoritarian government. if you still find yourself saying "i'm a republican", fascism *IS* the compromise.

Trump appointed judge is doing trump’s bidding, grants the special master and slows the investigation to a crawl.
ugh that's some bullshit. how is a special master going to review TS/SCI material anyway? or will the scope be "here are all the documents that are not TS/SCI but recovered from MAL"?

And how will the parties involved agree on who the special master will be? Trump will never be satisfied unless they’re a MAGA.

Well as long there’s a deadline for this review. And will it really delay the DOJ? I’d have to assume they catalogued document IDs. So they can go through government records to cross reference. But NIA still allowed access at least.

Dumb question, could any of these cases against Trump if charged go before the Supreme Court?

If it were to and they overruled a guilty conviction, BURN DOWN THE COURTS!!!!

My money is on the court steering well clear of this. The conservatives there are on a mission to punish liberals and make life generally more terrible for ordinary people through contradictory legal nonsense, not to keep Trump out of prison.

On the radio they said both parties have until Friday to submit a list of candidates for the job.

Seems like a decent concern would be that the 11th circuit overrules this ridiculous decision and then SCOTUS stays their order and lets it sit on their docket for a year or so.

This is true, SCOTUS might allow a very long delay.

At which point the Supreme Court becomes guilty of actively conspiring to aid and abet serious crimes - and at which point the burn down the court becomes not only reasonable, but necessary.

As a practical matter, I must ask: "Burn down the court," literally? I do mean literal in the original sense... At the very least there could be a crowd of thousands perpetually demonstrating in front of the SCOTUS building. I'd have to think this would cause the 6 lame-ass conservative in-justices to lose a lot of sleep.
