There does need to be a trial, but this Federalist Society crap judge is already tilting the field for Trump with her very first decision, that we need a special master.

After the past few years of looking at norms being tossed out and an extremely biased Supreme Court it's not hard to believe that this is not going to truly be justice. Just look at the two special master candidates put forth by Trump's team and compare their two to those put forth by Justice (one of which was appointed by Bush). One of the Trump team one is a lawyer connected to Trump's current lawyer, I'm sure he'll be very objective!

They'll lie, cheat, delay and obfuscate and hope we can get to 2024 where Trump or Desantis will wipe this all away. It might work.

Well... if the legal system cannot see fit to deliver justice, perhaps a relative of one of the operatives compromised will deliver justice via a bullet.

US isn't the only country where the legal system is falling apart... and all those in it cannot see the forest for trees as they make themselves ever more removed from societal norms.

Money always talks. It's even enshrined by our SCOTUS with Citizens United case, and at least one political bribery case.

People keep bringing this up but I have no clue why as it is not relevant if you declassified it. None of the govt potential charges require that the documents be classified.

Trump's admitted he had the shit, he claims he declassified all of it. Which he didn't have the power to do, and whatever he did declassify that was under his power, he still didn't have the right to remove it and take it to his house.

I think you're in agreement with the post you quoted...if the fix I added to your quote was correct? And yeah, people keep claiming that as if it makes it all okay: "BuT hE dEcLaSsIfIeD iT alL!!!1"

Doesn't matter a damn bit if he thinks he declassified it. Even if he did (hint: he didn't), it didn't give him the right to steal them.

Powerful stuff:
He's saying that this Trump appointed underqualified judge who was a member of the Federalist Society in her mid-20's didn't know what she was doing when she made the "Special Master" mandate decision, that she didn't even realize that the FBI is part of the IC (intelligence community), that preventing the FBI from investigating the nature of Trump's illegally gathered and carelessly maintained documents (while Trump himself was off to northern digs, he having abandoned MAL for the long summer season), a great many said documents being classified in various ways, was, as maintained in the DOJ official statement to the court on Sept. 8 putting the United States in major jeopardy. Don't watch it if you don't want to know what the DOJ's position is. Your decision. Watching it isn't reading the document that the DOJ served to the court, it's an attempt by Lawrence to brief you in 12 minutes about its nature. The DOJ made the extraordinary move of giving the judge until Sept. 15 to change her mind. Lawrence thinks she will and make a face saving move and exempt the classified material from her prohibitions.

Once the dust settles on this special master, wonder if senate judicial committee will bring this judge in for impeachment hearings? It’s one huge strike and you’re out. Let the Repugnicans say it’s political. but she has to be held accountable for her actions.

Oompa Loompa has the balls to say the DOJ should pay for half of the special master fees

It will be a whole lot easier to hire a special master if they are going to be paid something by someone. Given his track record it's almost a certainty that Trump will never pay a cent of the special master's bill.

Financially he's not doing too well. Still has a lot of debt which he is managing to stave off rather than settle.

This is what organized crime syndicates do to keep from getting incarcerated. This is what the Repubs seem to ignore every time one of Trump's associates gets convicted and pardoned. The list keeps growing and the Repub faithful behave as if these damning acts that Trump's cronies, the insurrectionists he incited and all of those Repubs of whom are actively attempting to cast doubt on the system we use to elect our leaders in order to corrupt it to their will never happened. All this while projecting their acts of treason, sedition and malfeasance onto the Democrats.

In their world, whatever the Repubs do to undermine democracy and cast doubt and aspersions on the branches of gov't that expose and prosecute their acts of treason is somehow justified for one asinine reason or another, the most often flung at their "enemies" is what they're doing is patriotic and meant to save America from those enemies, who just so happen to be the majority of the nation of whom are resisting the Repub's efforts to create their fascist/oligarchic form of gov't.

edit - Their state of idiocracy is being morphed into a state of ludiocracy and worsening by the minute.

Former OAN Host Turned Trump Attorney Christina Bobb Faces Possible Charges

Like all privileges, the attorney-client privilege is not inviolable. If an attorney speaks to his client in the presence of someone else (other than attorney employees), the privilege goes “poof.” Additionally, if you find yourself conspiring to commit a felony with your attorney, do not expect that your plans will be “safe” as privileged communications. This is where Christina Bobb, late of OAN and new to Trump’s legal team, comes in. Bobb may have, in an impressively short period of time, managed to go from media personality to lawyer, to co-conspirator, to defendant. Bobb is one of two attorneys who signed off on a document stating that Trump had handed over all government files in his possession and – if she did so without a thorough investigation of her own, it can be construed as obstruction of justice, which is a crime, even in Florida...

and

With more than 40 Trump lawyers singled out for ethics complaints and even more facing charges, legal experts joke MAGA now stands for 'Making Attorneys Get Attorneys

this, exactly. I was wondering when the heat would start to fall on attorneys aiding in the commission of obvious felonies.

I was reasonably certain that attorney's weren't protected from committing felonies...glad to see that's an actual topic, now.

summary? aren't we supposed to leave some commentary instead of just link dropping?

lol--I'm not watching some 12 minute video of some TV dude saying a thing.
Hehe yeah it was a sportage wall of text post. But nothing that hasn’t been mentioned already here about why judge is wrong for allowing special master and lack of arguments for the orange monkey.

Here is a summary of what the video says. I will use my post from a couple of pages back.

I can't believe that the DOJ had to explain to this "judge" that the FBI is part of the IC (Intelligence Community) she ordered to continue with its investigation into National Secrets that were exposed if any. She ordered the FBI to stop investigating crimes while also trying to determine whether or not National Security has been compromised.

If I didn't know any better I would say that this person could not have been approved by the United States Senate to be a federal judge. I guess having a basic knowledge of how things work is no longer a requirement for the job.

Edit: Lawrence explains that this proposed "special master" has no business having any access to classified material. It's absolutely prohibited by law. This is why he thinks the Trump-appointed judge will walk back her position. She has until Sept. 15 to do that and if she does not, the DOJ will go ahead with their appeal.

And she is using that deadline to its fullest...

Team treason filed a response, stupid as always.

The 21-page filing was an aggressive rebuke of the Justice Department’s broader inquiry into whether Mr. Trump or his aides illegally kept national security secrets at the property or obstructed the government’s repeated attempts to retrieve the materials. It played down the criminal inquiry as a “storage dispute” and insinuated that officials may have leaked information about the contents of the files.

“This investigation of the 45th president of the United States is both unprecedented and misguided,” the filing said. “In what at its core is a document storage dispute that has spiraled out of control, the government wrongfully seeks to criminalize the possession by the 45th president of his own presidential and personal records.”

I'm sure this corrupt judge will eat it up.

What I find really telling is that once again they refuse to say if Trump declassified the records in question. He's their client, they could just ask him! It's almost as if they want them to be treated as of indeterminate classification without actually saying something that could get them sanctioned.

A major problem with Trump team's maneuvering is that this proposed "special master" has no business having any access to classified material. It's absolutely prohibited by law. Lawrence in that video I posted above makes this point clearly. This is why he thinks the Trump-appointed judge will walk back her position. She has until Sept. 15 to do that and if she does not, the DOJ will go ahead with their appeal.
