Paying presidents kids huge amounts of money for doing nothing is a regular business practice and perfectly acceptable.

This is not regular business at all. Jared Kushner is a former senior US official who directly ran US policy on the middle east for four years. This is basically what the right convinced themselves Hunter Biden did but for real.

Let's say that Obama had pursued a bizarrely friendly China policy while in office and right after Obama left office China gave John Kerry $2 billion. Would you consider that normal business? If people do and I'm a dictator I'm going to tell all the decision makers in the US government that I'll take care of them after they are out of office so long as they help me now.

I hope this is a /s from you. If not a little surprised. I'm waiting to hear about the cushy jobs for Sasha and Malia Obama

I think the idea is supposed to be some sort of false equivalence between Hunter Biden, who has never held a position of authority in the US government, and Jared Kushner, arguably the most powerful public official in the country for four years.

Toddler level obstinance and wilfulness is probably sufficient, although I still suspect the Saudis got something for the money they invested with Jared.
So does congress. These are Senate committees! Dems still rule.

"Financial conflict of interest": Dems probe whether Kushner influenced policy to enrich himself | Salon.com

Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and House Oversight Chairwoman Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, D-N.Y., cited previously undisclosed emails related to Kushner in letters to the Departments of State and Defense on Monday requesting other materials that they believe could reveal whether "Kushner's financial conflict of interest may have led him to improperly influence U.S. tax, trade and national security policies for his own financial gain."

The letters, obtained by The Washington Post, seek information about the actions of Kushner and his father, Charles Kushner, to bail out a 41-story office building at 666 Fifth Avenue in 2018. As a result of a deal with Canadian company Brookfield Asset Management, which invested $1.2 billion for a 99-year lease, the Kushner family company was able to avoid defaulting on a loan that was due the next year.

To be clear this refers to an entirely different scandal involving Middle Eastern dictatorships (Qatar) giving Jared Kushner money in exchange for favorable policy.

Lol doh. Watching on tv, no link. But orange monkey lawyers hired outside group to search 4 other properties. They found classified material.
The question is why did he do this? Is it finally dawning on him how much fucking trouble he is in?

I am confused as to why it took them so long. One of my first thoughts as his lawyer would be 'is this it or are there more?'

Stupid lawyers believed their known liar client was telling the truth about no more classified documents to be found. So they wanted to polish this lie, by showing exactly that. Unfortunately, Trump burned their asses.

I don't know about that. I sincerely doubt his lawyers do not realize he's a degenerate liar. If anything I imagine that's why they hired an outside team to do the search instead of relying on his assurances. I think it's probably in Trump's best interests to get out whatever's going to come out now and have it be 'voluntary'.

Trump is still their boss. They can want to search Bedminster all they want, but he can just say no.

It's not. Hillary's kid landed a $600k job right out of collage. Joe's kid went to work for an oil company in another country, god only knows what scam Trumps kids pulled off. It's all just buying back door access. We can dress it up with a lot of kind words and talk about drive and focus, but it's back door access. Speaking engagements that pay $200k for an hour are another good one.
You can't put enough lipstick pig to make it into anything other than a pig.

Haha, called it. Let me know when one of those kids is a senior policymaker.

I know you know the difference between giving someone’s kid a kushy job and putting huge amounts of cash directly into policymakers’ pockets. I don’t know if you will admit it, but I’m sure you know.

Utter bullshit and you know it. With whom was Chelsea first employed after college? What year did she finish college?

Heh, I got seriously confused for a moment and found myself thinking "Chelsea isn't Hilary's kid, she was around when Bill was President, she's the kid of Bill and...oh..."

Somehow, for a brief instant I entirely forgot Hilary was ever married to Bill.

(Maybe she wishes she could do the same?)

The thing he’s trying to obscure is there is a very bright line between giving money to the family members of lawmakers and giving money to the lawmakers themselves.

Everyone knows this.

Lawyers work for their client, and follow the client's directions. Trump had to OK this at some level, or else they would have heard is goto slogan... "you're fired"

Did any other President appoint their kid(s) to high level positions?

Bobby K was AG, but that went through Congress and wasn't John's kid..
