I wouldn't say "under a rock" per se, but yes, I've tended to avoid popular mainstream music for a very long time, and I'm generally well-rewarded for it.
Too much exposure to mainstream culture can be detrimental for your mental health. Anyone who doesn't know that has to be mentally punch drunk.

What’s funny is if Biden were convicted of a felony @gothuevos would say he is doomed because independents would never vote for a felon. Since Trump got convicted of felonies he says independents actually love felons.

@gothuevos you are either some lying troll or you are one of the stupidest people I have ever conversed with.
His first post here, i.e. today, was a straight up troll. Yeah, he laid a big old egg to get himself rolling.

I mean if people haven't realized what elitist Democrats sound like by now, as has been pointed out numerous times already, I mean this could be in the dictionary as part of the definition for elitist Democrats.

For example elitist Democrats might use words in a sentence like Joe manchin should be a progressive hero.
Besides elitist Democrats and Democrats suffering Trump Derangement Syndrome, what other kinds of Democrats are there. Do you see among all the people who want to do something to stop Trump cultism ones that actually knows how to cure that disease? In my opinion the culture we call American is and was a disaster waiting for someone like Trump to come along and happen. He offered a strong man answer to the hatred generated by unregulated capitalistic competition, millions of aggrieved self entitled people full of notions of American exceptionalism, crushed by desperate people the world over willing to work for a few cents worth of corn beans rice or bread forced them to work for peanuts themselves or die homeless and starving.

Such people become quite deplorable as a result and not very fond of hearing that from the lucky among them not suffering the same fate. And with being made wretched comes meanness. You know what that is, I think. You want us to share your contempt for them and contempt for any who do not share your reactive generated feelings. You become what you fear, deplorable and mean, but only in terms you believe in, not me. I see only a program animating a robotic machine, a machine who is programmed to be exactly and only what it is. Your hatred of them is the same as your hatred of you, a product of machine learning.

Try looking at things without self importance. Truth appears as a resolution of opposites seen from a third perspective. Truth isn't this thought or that thought. It is what is when there is inner silence. No thought, no opinion, no words, no truth, no belief.

Here we have had some words........

The Senate is 50/50. Before we lost the House majority, the only way legislation was passed was when the VP broke a tie.

If you haven't been paying attention, after the American Rescue Plan, Dems also passed: BIL, IRA, CHIPS act, PACT Act, and probably some others.

This wasn't fluff legislation; these are significant achievements and esp. so when you had only 50 Senators and two of those were named Manchin and Sinema. The IRA, in particular, is a massive bill that will reverberate for a long time if the GOP doesn't strip it down.

Don't worry though, it seems like you will get your wish after all. The absolute clarity of losing Senate votes because Jim Justice replaces Manchin.

Who cares?

Ohio and Montana are guaranteed to flip red regardless. Now you can pad the GOP's small majority with WV. Wouldn't have mattered if Manchin stayed or not.

But I agree that he was largely underappreciated.

From the time I clicked these multiquotes, I have not seen one person admit or acknowledge that this trial proves that Trump along with help from Comey, stole the 2016 election which is why he cried so HARD about 2020 being stolen. Since he was able to manipulate the 2016, he couldn't comprehend how 2020 didn't work the same way.
He doesn't have the temperament to succeed in politics. He won the White House but he was a miserable failure as president. He's a bull-headed gold worshipping businessman, always has been, always will be. He is incapable of expressing or feeling remorse concerning anything. In short, he's a catastrophe. Republicans have rallied around him, are afraid to criticize him because they want to win (and those in office are terrified of getting on Trump's bad side) and he's the only R presidential winner since GWB, who was a glad handing frat boy son of a Texan R president (New England educated) who was CIA director, GWB was not a leader. People can rail, shout, act one way or another but when the general comes there will be some sober people voting. DJT cheated to win, committing felonies doing so, but the R's will continue to pretend he's the victim of a Democratic cabal. This nation is in a sorry state. Hopefully, this is Donnie's last stand and 2025 has him sliding into the abyss.

He is right, though, the GOP is the default in this country. If the democrat isn't perfect, the US votes for the republican regardless of how shitty they are.

Your guarantees are worth about as much as Trump's soiled diapers. The major legislation passed between 2021-2023 stays on the books until/unless they get dismantled by the GOP. Even if Dems lose the Senate, margins do matter (ask Kevin McCarthy about that).

It isn't really about appreciating Manchin, or defending him. In any voting body that is narrowly divided, the vote down the middle is pivotal and is the most valuable. This applies to legislatures, but is most clearly the case in SCOTUS. Between 2006 and 2018, Justice Kennedy (a Reagan appointment) was the swing vote and thus the one that mattered the most. Today the median vote is Chief Justice Roberts, but he matters less because conservatives hold a 6-3 advantage. In the rare cases he wants to side with the liberal justices, he still needs to flip Kavanaugh or ACB.

For a two year stretch, that guy in the Senate with the most leverage was Joe Manchin. He was in effect the gatekeeper to any legislation the Democrats wanted to pass. This was a bit of a historical "accident," as Stacey Abrams and her coalition seemingly willed Georgia to TWO unlikely pickups in the Senate to clinch the Democratic majority.

I'd rather justified losses than unjustified ones. Perspective affects following cycles and losing despite having the majority is a bad look, *gestures at past Republican majorities*

I think the issue is putting manchin in the hero category. His vote was just as important as all the other votes that helped get any legislation passed. He’s not a hero he’s your stereotypical politician who puts his donors and his reelection before your average citizen.

I can't wait for some Trumpie friends of mine to start parroting the barrage of recriminations that FOX and all of those acolytes and psychofans of Trump's have been rapid firing out of their conservative media outlets. My answer to every one of those spiteful vapid accusations of theirs is that it was twelve people who listened to the evidence from the prosecutors and defense and made their decision based on what was revealed thereof. It wasn't Joe Biden that convicted Trump nor was it anyone else that convicted Trump except for the jurors at his trial.

It wasn't a broken system that convicted him nor was it a fixed kangaroo court. It was a dozen of Trump's peers that both the prosecutors and the defense approved of that decided his fate. To make anything more of that is disingenuous, emotionally misdirected and politically motivated malevolence.
You have stepped over their logic and avoided it completely.
MAGA would never convict Trump of anything.
MAGA believes itself above the law.

That these "12 peers" convicted their god-king means that the peers are not MAGA, they are not peers. They are Democrats. They are other, they are less than human.
MAGA will have solutions for the less than human who plague our "great" country. You might even say their solutions will be final.

This is definitely an ‘I don’t understand what you don’t understand’ situation.
Any Republican that would replace Manchin is a dog turd. Manchin is a dog turd with a piece of grass sticking out. Yes, it’s possible to carry him by that grass to get stuff done whereas trying to lift any Republican replacement would would just get shit on your hand. I think folks understand that. Being a piece of shit with a handle is too low of bar for being a hero.

With his current announcement, replacing Sotomayor just became a much less sure bet.

First time I've heard someone claim Manchin is in Democrat's league. I'll remember that next time he torpedoes something important and everyone's screaming that he's a Republican plant.
