While I would have preferred exponential increases, doubling is better than nothing.
This way, less room for appeals and more justification for da jail. Mmm the bigliest jail

“Let’s make collect calls great again” is new 2024 Trump slogan 👍

You can only violate so many court orders and receive a fine. Violating a court order is also referred to as criminal contempt. Jail time for that is very light, like 5-10 days, but eventually it will happen if Trump can't keep his fat face shut.
They’d never jail him.

The total is now $15000, anyone for 20000 do I hear 20000....
It might not have happened if he didn't lie to the judge about who he was referring to in his out of court comment. He has some kind of hardon for the clerk.

It's not like he has to pay it with HIS money...he'll pay it with his supporters' money...hell, he'll probably fund raise several million more because of that piddling fine.

It would be hilarious! They need to put a webcam up if they do!

I still maintain he should be in Central Park Zoo cage. And a rotten egg stand beside it will pay for his costs. Preferably one that has the view of ex Trump Tower.

Umm, doubling each time... is exponential

5000
10000
20000
40000
80000
160000
320000
640000

Yeah, but how many times until it really hits him? It doesn't get to a million until 7 more wrist slaps, and a million is nothing to that grifter. These are symbolic now. The judge has to declare to his face that next time he stays behind bars for a while... sooner or later. I prefer next time.

Judge Engoron has ruled that Ivanka has to testify even though she has been removed as a defendant in the case, and that a deposition taken in FL just won't do - she has to appear in person.

Tee hee.

Must see TV!

The tangerine terrorist sitting at the defendant’s table scowling at his princess, the apple of his eye…

While I am certainly not a legal expert, I expect the standard for testimony will be lower for one’s child.

This makes no sense to me. Trump has lost shitloads of cases in the past and when he loses he pays. This is a trivial amount and he will pay it.

If the idea is he will try to tap campaign funds for that maybe, but honestly campaign finance laws are such a joke now anyway who cares. He would have used that money for something else anyway.

So yeah, he will pay.
Actually IF the Supreme Court did not issue partisan rulings like voiding the bipartisan and tough McCain-Feingold Act (ruling based on the bizarre concept that money is speech, along with the almost as equally concept that corporations have freedom of speech (it is a well admitted legal fiction that a corporation is a legal person, they can't vote-YET-and will never serve to defend this country) and other similar rulings (like the one giving valuable watches, expensive trips, etc. to politicians is not graft but is perfectly normal) then our campaign laws and general sense of ethics would be in a lot better shape.

There was a very serious and successful effort to reform campaign finance in the US-it certainly wasn't a joke, it was just scuttled by those that consider themselves as our nonelected overlords who are free to rule as they wish without any sort of restraint.

As trump was leaving a rally in NH a guy with a bullhorn was shouting "Trump's going to ja-il" and "Lock Him Up".

Takes some courage to do around any of his zealots. If I was him I'd do it from my car with the engine running.

Then again that is NH, not sure about their laws. Here in FL we have the "stand your ground" shit where you can start a'blastin' if you feel you are in danger. And danger is kind of a nebulous thing

What I like about that schedule is that (potentially) it lets Trump stew and continue to get angrier with each passing day. He might actually just explode in court instead of looking like a red-faced angry aging Chuckie doll.

I have a question. Originally this thread was about the NY criminal case where Trump was indicted under NY law for the Stormy Daniels hush money scandal. Lately this thread has been about another NY case, the civil fraud case that is currently on trial. Does anyone know what happened with the NY criminal case? It was the first time an ex-President was criminally indicted ever. I don't recall hearing anything about that case in a long time. The best info I could find is this article from April, 2023:
