SCOTUS is playing along for a delay. If they wanted it handled fast, they would have taken it up immediately but they're helping Trump as long as possible so no court case is before election day!
Someone-maybe some network or show (perfect for the Daily Show) should prominently feature a countdown clock showing how much delay the SCOTUS is intentionally delaying Trump's trials. The Court is definitely intentionally delaying as much as possible to help Trump's political chances.

It took the Court wo full weeks to decide to take the case. For a similar motion to the one Trump's attorneys made-a motion to stay an execution, the SCOTUS decides in a matter of a few hours or a day or two at most. The case is already briefed but the SCOTUS won't hear oral arguments until the week of April 22nd-another eight weeks of unnecessary delay. And then it will be weeks or even months before they actually issue a decision-I'm guessing it will be at the end of their term in June or so.

Justice delayed is definitely justice denied in this case. The American voters are entitled to have these cases go to trial BEFORE the election. This is shameless politic-ing by the Court and there should be a huge public outcry about how they are gaming the system. It's disgusting.

But you know, it's all okay, because SCOTUS said in the Colorado exclusion case that Congress (LOL) could always act to stop ineligible people (or presumably muster the majority to impeach and 2/3 to remove) from taking the presidency. That surely won't cause some sort of constitutional crisis and domestic upheaval...

Yup let’s pretend the orange monkey wins and Dems somehow regain the house and get a supermajority in the senate. Imagine the faux outrage how dare the congress do their sworn duty and ignore the will of the people

Confused as to whether relates to the payoff (election interference) case or the fraud case or both. Anyway, this is something I've been wondering about. Kind of like suborning perjury?

I believe it's for the fraud trial, since it mentions the NY AG. Don't recall them being involved in the hush money case.

Either way, nothing will come of this.

91 million due on 3/9 for EJ Carroll well if he wants to contest it

The fact people are clamoring for him to be in the White House is the most damning of all. They have no shame or morality left.

Biden needs to make simple ads. Trump rapes woman and brags about grabbing pussies. Is a sick puppy. Wants federal abortion ban. Hates women. Is a fraud etc. simple terms, simple truth. He is insurrectionist traitor. No sophisticated language. No gentleness.

WTF kind of stupid logic is this?

"The former president's argument was that he is so wealthy, he shouldn't need to pay a bond to appeal the defamation ruling."

One that works in the bizarro world that we now live in.

He has to keep up appearances that he has the money…

I bet he does not have it

You remember 8 years ago.. someone asked him a question.. would he be willing to give up his own social security payments to aid the country or something?

I think we know the answer now.. and he lied back then but they just lapped it up.

It’s logic that’s losing.

Duh…if it had been granted…by the time it went through the appeal process, the election might be over. If he won…and I think there’s a very good chance he will…there’s no way the courts would be able to force him to pay. (at least in his mind)

And Trump just lost his appeal (yet again) to delay payment from Saturday's deadline for payment, in yet another ruling this afternoon. I think Trump has appealed this at least 4 different ways to try to get delays or reductions in paying the penalty as well as to outright reverse the jury ruling. $91.63 million is now due in cash or bond on this Saturday, to be able to continue Trump's appeals of the E J Carroll verdict, unless a higher court issues a stay in the next 24 hours.

Good. Watch the bond holder get fucked when he loses his appeal. Presumably they had to post significant collateral.

If he posted this bond, he must then have enough for the $355M judgement. No way he’d risk fighting that judgment by blowing everything he has with the smaller suit.

Yeah I doubt it. If he finds somebody willing to bond him on this too going to be close to $500M.

Apparently Chubb underwrote the bond. Its unlikely they did so without substantial verifiable collateral.
