You’re correct it is not illegal to pay hush money. What IS illegal is to conceal that hush money payment by falsifying business records. It would not be sufficient to say he was falsifying business records in order to avoid being embarrassed - that would still be a crime.

As for it being a mistake that’s pretty obviously disproven by the evidence considering Trump was discussing how to conceal the payment.

Presumably we agree falsifying business records is illegal, correct?
The GOP voter burden of proof is a signed statement from Trump confessing to his crimes, with two of his thumbprints, Reagan's signature, a signature from a witness that is not corrupted by a liberal education, and notarized by one of the conservative justices on the supreme court. If you don't make that cut, you must acquit...

It’s just funny that their basic defense is ‘it shouldn’t be illegal to falsify business records in order to cover up illegal campaign contributions of hush money payments to porn stars in order to become president’

That’s how far down the rabbit hole these clowns have gone.

Again did you not read and understand the what the gag order entailed.

It was to stop trump from witnes intimidation and going after court staff

Full stop

Trump has been doing press briefings just about after every day of trial

Do you feel it is ok for a defendant to intimidate witnesses?

Do you feel it is ok to trash talk the court assistant/ etc?

Correct, and as far as I know, neither Stormy Daniels nor Cohen have done these things. Neither have they gone against the judges' wishes on this subject and kept engaging in the same behavior after being told to stop it.

If they did, then they should be held accountable just as Trump or any of us should.

Trump has been told repeatedly that he's allowed to express some opinions, while others are off limits. Just as they'd be for anyone. Nobody has been told to simply keep your yap shut. He has so far been unwilling to abide by the conditions.

Details matter.

Yeah but it's an easy mistake to make according to pcgeek..."labeling of this as a legal expense would be an easy mistake if so by an accountant as he was paying his "lawyer" for services."
I make this mistake all the time when I'm directing my enforcer lawyer to cover up my affairs...don't you?!

I routinely overpay my lawyers by $150k, the exact amount I agreed to in a hush money settlement. What a coincidence!

Well in their minds Democrats do all those things all the time and you never complained about it when they did it so it's only fair when their guys cheat a little.

All of the liberal advancements made against irrational mob rule, all those hard won advances is civilized living to protect against possible conviction of the innocent are being employed in defense against the conviction a two year old can see is guilty and all because of money, power, and politics. If you have money, power or political influence equal under the law does not apply to you.

There is nothing odd about it if you understand the nature of unconscious motivation. For them to admit to the fact that the party to which they are proud to belong and from which they derive a sense of self worth is actually a party full of such emotionally needy people they would consciously feel worthless were they to lose membership in it is, is to see that they will cling to it at at any price. We have no idea how worthless we feel and that any beloved patriot in our armor brings on the fear of death. This is true of all sacred cows.

The prosecution witness' (Michael Cohen Etc... ) are free to trash talk all they want. I also believe in the Freedom of speech as do many. I don't see where Trump calling Cohen and Stormy a couple of sleezebags (which many will agree) is endangering him or Stormy.

If you are going to have a gag order gag them all.

Are you aware that you have absolutely no idea how any of this works?

Is there anything more consequential other than $1000 fines each time for him violating his gag orders?
if he's found in contempt of court, what happens?

On break after a hearing about whether he has violated gag orders with his posts, Trump posts a rant on Truth Social complaining about the biased judge and how his freeze peach is being suppressed. While knowing that the judge is waiting to make a decision about the whole thing, probably to see if Trump could actually go a whole day without violating the gag order again. That took all of five minutes. You can't make this up

I'm starting to agree with those who think Trump wants to rile up the judge in order to get put in jail. Then he'll bleat about unfair repression like the peasant in the Holy Grail hoping he'll get a sympathy vote, or some horde of maga patriots marching on NYC to bust him out of jail I guess.

Throw the orange tootalini in jail. It is time to stop caring about his ignorant ass clown followers. Throw them in jail too. Lord, I am tired of this guy getting such preferential treatment.

And pcgeek is really bad MAGAT troll who always tries the both side argument garbage. I think he ate too many paint chips from the peeling underside of the bridge

The judge has allowed Trump to talk nasty about the judge and the prosecutor all he wants, so posts about the judge don't violate that order.

The gag order is only regarding their staff, families, the jurors, and witnesses (and potential jurors and potential witnesses).

Trump's lawyers argued among other idiotic ideas, with a straight face in court:
(1) Reposts by Trump don't violate the gag order (and the judge hammered them on this)
(2) Trump allegedly might not have known he was violating the gag order with these posts (but the lawyer refused to represent that as a fact, and repeatedly refused to have Trump testify to that), so the defense got lambasted again
(3) Trump publicly attacking witnesses now if they had an old history of statements against Trump shouldn't violate the gag order as he claims to just be responding. And again the judge hammered the defense to provide exactly what Trump was allegedly responding to - and the defense had absolutely no answer.

No way Trump doesn't come out of this with a fine for violating the gag order and a stern warning, question will be exactly how harshly worded the judges order from this is.

That's what I'm getting it. The fine seems low and do you think he gives AF about a stern warning?

Hey it's the only way to counter the Biden crime family.

That peasant actually had legitimate points at least.

Hmm, yes, looked it up and I guess it is a maximum of $1k per act.
Well, the judge could get creative, and say every individual that gets the message from Trump is a separate "act"... 2 million shares, that'll be $2 billion now Mr. Trump...
