If Trump loses this fall I'll be watching for his sentencing results with popcorn in hand.
I wish I could hope for a deserved outcome, but I've lost all faith in our justice system. I have doubts he'll ever be held accountable (criminally, anyway).

If Trump loses, two things will happen simultaneously:

1) Trump will say he didn't lose and the Dems cheated (this is obvious)
2) He will immediately file to run in 2028 so he can keep saying that all the legal cases are a political witch hunt (plus he can keep the grift going)

Any incongruity between those two will be lost to him and his followers.

You forgot 1.5 MAGA attack on electors and SCOTUS calling Trump win.

I think you might be right. I don’t think Trump wants to win, he wants to keep his grift going and that means running indefinitely.

Oh, he wants to win moreso this time around than he did in 2016 or 2020...this time he needs to retake the WH in order to avoid further prosecution/accountability.

I do think he wants to win for that alone. It may be the first time he's truly motivated to win.

The first WH run was a joke. I don't think he truly expected to win. When he did win, he found many many ways to grift money. Some of it illegal, and protected by conservative traitors to the Constitution. The problem is, he also had many illegal money grifts that came to light with closer scrutiny. And now he needs to win another WH run in order to avoid prosecution.

If you are familiar with trumps history in court you wouldn’t say this. Trump would definitely rather take his chances in court and keep his election campaign grift going vs four years of actually having to work.

I don't think he wants that, but rather he has to. Plus at least half of it is just performative to try and keep his lies going. I'll keep saying it, even he knows he didn't legitimately win in 2016 (and by that I don't mean the election was "fixed" like he claims about 2020, but rather that he only won because of illegal cooperation of a foreign government), which is why he was still campaigning about it the entire time he was in office.

Hell, the only thing he enjoys about it, blathering out whatever nonsense his brain shits out his mouth in front of an audience even doesn't seem to bring him as much joy with him having to constantly complain about crowd sizes and shit.

Imagine the alternate universe where Turmp just pivoted to getting paid to speak like that entire grift of an industry, with no pressure to actually live up to his promises, and he gets to rake in cash duping rubes and the US didn't have him fuck things up.

Indeed. Documents case if he just returned them, no charges. The Jan 6 case probably would have quietly been swept under Garland’s rug if the orange monkey wasn’t still running. Hush money case would have long been resolved with a sentence of cash fine. Only Georgia would have been pursued. Carol case would have had a far lower judgement since he’d have less opportunity to speak and stick his foot in his big fat mouth so often. Truth social would probably have skyrocketed from the IPO instead of crashing.

But the martyr argument, it’s only his base that eats it up. He can proclaim as much as he wants election interference, no votes of consequence will be impacted.

Huh? "no votes of consequence will be impacted" really? "none at all? I'll have to disagree on that. Especially if the judge sentenced him to jail. The fact remains that he was denied fundraising and grifting as a victim from the decision to postpone. It also takes the SCOTUS out of the picture before the election.

Latest presser from Trump goes off on EJ Carroll

Just disturbing...

Floated the conspiracy theory that the photo with him and EJ was AI.. You know the photo that Trump said he identified EJ as his ex.. Marla..

I hope he gets taken for everything now..

Trumps shit on legal team: - “We have a great idea sir! You should insult the judge more before he sentences you. Also, threaten his family. That will scare him into being nicer to you!”

Even if Trump could attain good lawyers, I don't think any of them could talk sense into him. He believes he's untouchable and until he actually faces real consequences he won't care. For any sane person I know, if their freedom was on the line they'd be the kindest person ever. Trump's never not Trump though.

I haven't heard any updates, but it seems like the $500 million he owes NY & E. Jean Carroll, I guess he's off the hook? If I owed $5k to the state and skipped out on it I'd have a bench warrant and end up in jail. So as stupid as he is, I can understand why he's fearless of anything actually happening to him. To own that kind of money and still be a free man has to be powerful people working magic. A judge is about to hand out his sentencing and Trump is basically poking him because he can.

He put up the required bond so no, not off the hook.

Another case goes against Trump...he's really going to have to ratch up the grifting with all these fines he's going to have to pay, this one for copyright infringement. Judge ruled against Trump's case in pretrial, so any trial will just be deciding on penalty if they don't settle beforehand. I hope more of these artists whose music he illegally used get similar judgements.

He DGAF about the WH, but he surely cares about the freedom he enjoys not being incarcerated.

An absolute worst case scenario for us would be if he wins in November, then strong arms SCROTUS into allowing him to run again in 2028 on the Vance/DJT ticket. This is essentially the Vladimir Putin (his idol) play. Obv he'd prefer to just never relinquish office but I think that would be a bridge too far even for the likes of Vance, John Thune, and other prominent Repugs who've thus far condoned his wanton criminality.

I think he's likely to relinquish the office in 2028 if he wins if for no other reason than extreme old age. I agree he would only do this to a handpicked successor though as yes, staying out of jail is his primary concern now.

Watch the video of the proceedings and you'll have a pretty clear idea of where it's going to end up.

I'm sure you're happy that you voted for this 34-times convicted felon and that because he doesn't get his fair day in trial, for the 60+ other felonies and civil crimes that he faces, it simply means that the system works to protect the criminals that you support.

I like how the neutral arbiter here thinks Hillary Clinton is guilty without a trial but Donald Trump is innocent even after conviction.
