The tax forms are not on the net yet? So is it illegal for a newspaper to post them or what?

edit - Oh btw IRS form 709 is the gift tax form so if money over $15k is gifted to one person, like a video star, then it should be listed on the form for whatever year it was. And if it's missing or not filed then there could be a legal problem?

Ah probably not a big deal, you just list it if you get caught. In general you get a $11 million limit in your lifetime of gifting money to all recipients before you owe taxes on it. The form is to keep track of your gifts so the IRS knows how close or far you are from the $11 million limit. But if it involves campaign financing then it may or may not be a serious issue beyond simply not listing the recipient?

But the Russians could continue to fund him.
As long as he keeps the Great American Dumpster Fire going, you bet your everything they will keep funding him with everything they got, including asylum if it comes to that.

Do you understand that any random person could be sitting on a billion dollars and not pay a cent in taxes? You aren't taxed on how much you have, your taxed on how much you made.

I won't comment on the story posted because I don't have any information other than a tweet.

Dont you ever get tired of the stink? Or have you contracted one of those rally covids that wipes out your sense of smell...

Apparently one of the deductions he took was $70,000 for hairstyling. I assume this is another bit of fraud, because if not, holy shit , did he get ripped off!…

According to the NYT piece, determination of the legitimacy of an old Trump tax refund of +/- $72 million has been held up in audit limbo for more than ten fucking years. How is that even possible? Expensive and capable lawyers?. I wonder how they’re getting paid? Lawyers don’t work for free. It would appear that the tax code could use an overhauling.

Since tax evasion is seen by many people as a victimless crime, the focus should be on his debts and failures. The tax evasion angle would turn him into even more of a hero to his base. The attacks should be reminding people that he is broke, beholden to foreign interests and that he is a fucking horrible businessman.

For 18 years, he’s hemorrhaged money in his failing, flailing business “empire.” For all his supposed business savvy and deal making he couldn’t turn a profit. He’s a loser. They should use that exact word every time they talk about this. Loser!. All the better if they can work in a chuckle when talking about it. Personally and politically, I think being tagged as a loser will be more damaging to him than being considered a tax fraud. If the message that he is a failure as a businessman sticks, he will come apart at the seams. And (some) followers who put him in office because “we need a successful businessman to fix what’s wrong” will quietly slink away from him.

Imagine being the, er um.. "billionaire" President of the United States and being so broke you can no longer own the libs.

This is how I would attack him in the debates if I were Biden...

"The fact is, Donald, I don’t blame you for wanting to keep those tax records secret. I’d be embarrassed of them, too, if they were mine. You’ve insisted for years that you can’t be as incompetent as you look, because you’re such a great businessman. These records show that you’re just as bad at running a business as you are at running the executive branch." .... "And you’re exactly why the American People have asked presidential candidates to release their returns. We started asking candidates to do this right after Nixon, because we didn’t want to get another crook in the White House. And then we let you take office without releasing your returns, and we got another crook in the White House." "How are you selling out the country to pay down your massive business debts? You’ve prevented the Justice Department from investigating you. When I’m elected, I’ll release those restrictions, and the American People will find out.”

I wondered how Donald and his kids are taking this reveal and then I started seriously laughing my ass off at the thought of it all. So what if I'm reveling in someone else's pain, it's Donald the Tax Cheat and Greatest Liar of All Time we're talking about here.

That bubble he and his supporters have been living in these past four years looks prime to be burst in some really tragic yet hilarious kinds of ways. The fake genius businessman and the fake president he's been trying to hide behind is a past due debt to society that has come a calling on him for immediate payment with a deadline of first of the month this coming November plus a day or two grace.

Time to pay up or shut up Donald, and time for his wayward lost sheep to come back to the barn for a painful yet deserved shearing with reality.

Trump claims his tax returns are still being audited, however:

He can declassify intelligence on a whim and share it with Russians, Saudis or Israelis... but he can’t get his own tax returns from his accountant/IRS. Sounds totally plausible.

This must be hitting home. Fox is silent on it and running stories about Trump asking why isn't the mainstream press reporting on Hunter's scandals? Also Ben Carson: Trump's vision of healthcare for America is amazing. Oh and Chicago another story about violence in Chicago.

Yes, I think the most potent line of attack out of this isn’t that he’s a tax cheat, we already knew that, it’s that’s he’s a failure.

I'd probably be inclined to say that both work. Him being proud of paying zero taxes was back in 2016 when the economy was doing well and his opponent was Hillary. I think it could play quite differently now to voters who could be on the fence (some still exist).

I mean only the hardest of the hardcore deplorables will run with “he’s smart paying so little”
We all can bicker about what his net income is or what his properties valuations are. I do think nearly all of us and many deplorables agree someone who owns multiple golf courses, high rise buildings in NYC, a helicopter, a limo and two jets maybe should pay more in federal taxes than like anybody else with a job.
Appears the President runs his businesses like a welfare queen.

Fox is talking about Hunter Biden? The already proven and verified Russia disinformation?

Everyone does their best to pay the least amount of taxes every year. Why should Trump be any different? People purchase rental property and other things to have tax write offs. If Trump had paid 2 million dollars every year, would that make him look smart? Most of the richest companies pay very little taxes. This just tells me that Trump is smart and knows how to work the system. We can all take a lesson from him on how to pay as little tax as possible.

Hate the game, not the playa.

No seriously, hate our convoluted tax system. Don't hate Donald Trump or anyone for hiring a CPA to do their taxes for them.

They paid precisely what they owed. They didn't cheat the system, they didn't circumvent anything.

This also isn't a republican thing. These types of exploits have been there long before the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Considering Trump had a hand in writing the rules, this is hardly a good defense.

Did the tax deductions for private planes write themselves in?

We've covered before all the self serving rules Trump, Republicans and their billionaire backers served up.

So yeah, hate them in both dimensions.

Any middle class working Joe who votes for these thieves and scammers is a fucking tool bag.
