I kind of think if Trump were really smart and desperately wanted to be President again more than anything else, he could really play the 'uniter not a divider' schtick now, and at least _pretend_ to have had a revelation and to want a "kinder gentler" country. By moving even slightly away from the far right he could ensure victory for himself, by retaining his hard-core base and hoovering up some of those with doubts about Biden's capability (what he does after that is another story).
His crazier supporters have nowhere else to go at this point, and probably would be less inclined to be fooled by a Trump redemption story than the centrists and undecideds are.
For that reason I think I'd be very skeptical if any new gentler Trump rhetoric emerges from this.
