Thread title:

Trump Scoreboard: Market Watch

You can't backtrack now. It's on top of every page.

Very good. Marketwatch.com is the website, the title of their piece is "The Trump Scoreboard: How the president measures up after 1 year in office"

I hope you can connect the dots here, the title to the article and the title to this thread.

There's this from Wall Street:

But you think the fat cheeto will listen?
Not on your life:

""If we don't change it, let's have a shutdown," Trump said of the nation's immigration laws. "We'll do a shutdown and it's worth it for our country. I'd love to see a shutdown if we don't get this stuff taken care of.""

This idiot cannot see cause and effect. Most of all he doesn't care about the people in the US.

As one of his professors at Wharton said:
Professor Kelley told me 100 times over three decades that ‘Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had,'” DiPrima wrote for the Daily Kos.

This is Trump's opus and you are repeating it.

You are then quoting how much you made in your 401k "in Trump's first year" ....

Who's scoreboard is it then? What's the point of the thread?

If you think it's a faulty premise, why create the thread, then backtrack on the responsibility?

Doesn't even matter. Trump decided it's his scoreboard, so he gets to own all the fuck ups, and make his best case why he gets credit for the upside.

Since you don't believe he really influences the market, then we'll expect you won't give him credit for any upswings.

But they already have given him credit for his first year in office. He gives credit to himself for it. If it's his doing that the economy is good then it's his fault if it's doing bad. But we know conservatives will never do that. They are chosen by god and are infallible.

“In the ‘old days,’ when good news was reported, the Stock Market would go up,” he wrote on Twitter. “Today, when good news is reported, the Stock Market goes down. Big mistake, and we have so much good (great) news about the economy!”

What a maroon.

"Big mistake"

You wonder if he actually thinks there is someone that lives at the stock exchange and just pulls a lever up or down that determines whether or not the DJIA rises or falls.

I take it he doesn't realize that according to his own logic we've had nothing but bad news since his election, since the markets have been going up.

You know, credit is a perfect term to use. They racked up trillions in credit, in Americans' names. And we see Turmp's end game. He needs credit, as that's all that he is any more, and he desperately needed a balance transfer as his credit bills are going to come due soon. He's trying to kick the can down the road until he's dead and no longer has to worry about it (and he'll probably put in his will that blame should fall squarely on his kids after their sham empire crumbles).

Definitely a downward trend today. Curious if we'll see a solid rebound in the final hours, or if things might actually drop below 24k today.

Back to treasuries being the cause. Jumped up to 2.88% yield on 10 years. that 3% number being so close is really spooking the markets.

Appreciate your informed insights.
I've been in this business for 7 years now and it's never been harder to figure out why markets are doing what they are doing than the last year and a half or so. It's not as "rational" as it used to be.

i used to be in the business and have personally traded stocks for decades. while specific reasons can be used to explain daily fluctuations of the Dow, imo, Wall Street has finally "caught up" to trump and is simply reflecting the overall chaos of his presidency. the daily fluctuations over the past week are like nothing we have seen before, at least in recent history.

He must not have owned any equities for the last 30 years cause that IS the pattern. Wall Street hates it when people get more money in their pockets.

Paul Krugman used to mock the idea of a conference fairy... But now I'm not so sure seeing Capt Choas is in charge.

Granted PK was referring to bond markets and rationale for austerity measures...

I guess it's always been assumed we were a stable ship even though we've had some idiots at the helm.
That bet not looking so safe now days.
