The media only reports on attacks or foiled attacks when they are juicy with details of "assault rifles" or tons of deaths. They don't report on many of the plots that get taken down before they happen that don't have any of the stuff that will drive numbers up.
David Rodski who is in the FBI and works in counter terrorism came and spoke to us a few weeks back and it was very interesting to listen to. He went over the amount of terrorists and plots that they brought down in just Maryland last year in 2016, and I believe it was like over 30. I had only heard about 1 of them on the news and it was because it was one of those that had some interesting details that would make for a good news story. The others were just one or two people who were taken down with no fight back or conflict, so we never heard anything about that. I would bet that a lot of these aren't reported because it would instill panic in a lot of people too.

Here's a challenge. Find a plot that wasn't reported on in the list they put out. In fact, for bonus points, scour the list and find out how many of those have no indication that they are actually terror related or inspired.
Interestingly Trump was all over the incident at the Louvre in minutes of it happening. What you won't find from him is a word about what happened in Quebec. In fact, his admin tried to use it as an example of why his ban was needed. I guess the rationale is that way there is fewer Muslims for white supremacists to kill or something.
