But doubt it can get delayed until new house sworn in. So the committee will at least get to see it.

I doubt that. Trump has friends in high places including the highest court in the land. They will obey their Messiah.

As much as we hate how partisan SCOTUS has become, they’ve done squat to help the orange monkey. Don’t see any difference for this.

They have actually done an enormous amount to help him as this case shows. The initial request for his taxes comes from 2019 - the law is utterly unambiguous here and yet SCOTUS has purposefully delayed any decision on this for three years and counting so that he wouldn’t be politically damaged by their contents.

Indeed. They could have come down very clearly on some of these issues. Instead, they sit on decisions and then punt.

We underestimate Trump, the Messiah, the god and savior of all humanity.
But I don't know about Lindsay Graham or where his unearthly powers come from.

The bible speaks of an anti-Christ. Im begging to believe Trump is exactly the one mentioned in scripture. When he becomes president again, then no question about it...

And like clockwork, we get another delay.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Chief Justice John Roberts on Tuesday put a temporary hold on the handover of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns to a congressional committee.

Roberts’ order gives the Supreme Court time to weigh the legal issues in Trump’s emergency appeal to the high court, filed Monday.

Without court intervention, the tax returns could have been provided as early as Thursday by the Treasury Department to the Democratic-controlled House Ways and Means Committee.

Like I said, this is how they help Trump. Seems reasonably likely that SCOTUS will delay turning them over until a new Congress is sworn in. If Republicans win they will cancel the subpoena and then any future subpoena would start at square one and then face all the same delays all over again.

Yet another reason to pack the court. They are explicitly political actors and should be treated as such.

It takes years for people to get cases in front of SCOTUS. How does Trump get so many and so quickly?

Same thing for people like Lindsay Graham.
I don't know. Can't be the same venue as appeals for death sentences.

You beat me to it. SCOTUS know the current political climate favors Republicans and they are doing a favor for Trump.

BTW - What does the court have to weigh. Doesn't the law say when the committee demands the records they shall be turned over? (shall legal for must). What is there to debate??

You are 100% correct, the statute is crystal clear. It was enacted in the 1920s because a VP refused to turn over his records. Roberts is punting this purely for political reasons. Sad because Roberts constantly claims he is concerned about the current image of the Court. Then he exercises the Court's power in a naked political manner.

Yep - the law here is absolutely crystal clear and has no ambiguity. If something this clear can be punted for three and a half years by SCOTUS any actually difficult legal case can be dragged on indefinitely.

john roberts has no idea why the court is seen as a political animal
Don't kid yourself-he knows exactly HOW this will be seen, if it is in fact seen by more than a tiny minority of the US voting population. It certainly won't be a story on the network evening news or the front page of any major paper. It's the type of partisanship he can do in plain sight and most likely get away with.

If the Dems can get a big enough majority in the Senate to bypass the blockade on killing the filibuster (reconciliation) that Manchin refuses to agree to along with having DINO Sinema's influence muted, then packing the SCOTUS to get rid of the corporate stranglehold the Repubs have over it is a distinct possibility. Can't wait to see the results of the mid-terms and how it will affect the Dem's hopes of shaking off Manchin's and Sinema's virtual stewardship of their policy decision making process.

Sadly the Dems getting +2 in the Senate is looking pretty unlikely at this point.

Is this the right thread? Hard to keep track of all the different investigations...

wait wait, none of this is actually criminal or even true until the proper conservative posters on here can assign the "proper" people to actually be in that courtroom personally to prove that any of this is actually true.

Crimes aren't actually crimes until the correct person says they are crimes. It's a really cool argument because then you can just legally say that a murder that happened didn't actually happen, for example. It's a real neat trick that conservatives have invented over the last couple of years.

In this way, they pretty much have now convinced themselves that OJ really is innocent of murdering Nicole BS and Ron Goldman. Because their logic demands this acknowledgement.

And even then if the person has a reasonable explanation for it, it's probably still okay.
