Trump: The United States is considering stopping all trade with any country doing business with N.K.

The theory on China is they'll label some of their big banks as trading partners with NK. These banks barely hide the money laundering they do for NK.
Yes it would hurt the US too but that is the point. We (USA) are saying we'll endure some pain to end support of NK.
This is one area I think Trump or more likely Kelly is right. What we have done in the past has not worked it's time for something different

Man, I hope China opens up full trade with north korea if they do this. Maybe that will be how this ends: China, Russia, India and any other non-stooge power in Asia all team up to sanction the US.

As much as it would hurt me personally and financially, it would be touching to see the world hold hands and finally say "enough" to the American foreign policy menace.

Coming soon to a Store near you.....nothing.

Boo-fucking-hoo, no one is entitled to products off another persons back made under labor, wage, safety, and environmental conditions that they themselves would refuse to work under.

Maybe this what is needed for Americans to realize the true cost of the always low prices and the race to the bottom by using outsourcing to bypass the labor, wage, safety, and environmental laws that they demand but refuse to pay for in the cost of their products if they were made in America.

Remind me again, what was your position on TPP? Its funny how you support politicians who support the exact opposite of what you want.

Will he actually do anything? Trump's threats are as effective as a schoolkid blowing raspberries. He's just hot air. He's had his bullshit bluffs called time and again and keeps trying them. How long until he accuses Kim-Jung of 'tapping his wires'?

This, an interminable and insufferable thousand times this. Bloviating out of his ass of a mouth seems to be a talent of his that has no limit to its exasperating tendencies.

The guy defaults to empty threats like he was a snarky condescending self-righteous narcissistic big time wanna be real estate magnate or something.

Oh good, more empty threats. Has Trump not realized this sort of bullshit just makes other countries not take him seriously?

So the US right is threatening to bring down the global capitalist system, while Chinese Communists are dependent on it continuing, in order to stay in power and avoid chaos or a return to Maoism?

This world is very confusing.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...ons-after-bomb-test-to-cut-off-all-trade.html

Does that include China?

Why is it so hard to believe anything coming out of Trump's mouth?

I don't see it happening, more likely it will be a limited sanction but enough to be felt on a China to get them to act on NK. Not full blown shutting off trade.

That said I think there are three possible outcomes to the current crisis:

1.) we ignore NK altogether, which is increasingly unlikely - especially if they launch the ICBM and it looks like they will
2.) China gets tough on them, and I don't think they will unless they are given enough of an economic twist of the arm to do so (and even then maybe not)
3.) war.

Wouldn't it be hard to put sanctions on China? Given just about everything is manufactured there and a lot of it is for American companies. Like Apple, AMD, Intel, dell etc. Also south Korean companies have a lot of stuff manufactured there. Samsung, LG etc.

The problem is China now holds all of the cards because they have all of the large scale manufacturing capability and an endless supply of communist stooges who do what they are told.

The sanctions on Russia for (allegedly) doing what, who, me? Invasions off neighbouring countries just made them more belligerent (they are still in effect right?) although it's not like we are missing out on much when it comes to Russian exports.

I look forward to being wowed by the world's best president, diplomat and dad.

Yeah sanctions on China would be extremely difficult because as you mentioned everything is made there. That's why I think the likely hood of it coming to pass is slim to none, but I can see a smaller sanction though just to get the point across.

The thing with the Chinese is they plan ahead. Sure the US could quite easily build the same factories locally but how will that effect the relevant corporations profits? Their profits won't be increasing that's for sure.

Actually wasn't that a trump campaign promise? Get rid of the Mexicans and bring manufacturing back to the US. I think if that does actually happen it would be a good idea to keep the Mexicans in lieu of disposable, low paid, ignorant communist stooges.

Seriously though. The Chinese plan ahead. What a clusterfuck.

Nighty. Night.

Dang it....y'all just don't understand. Haven't y'all learned to read between the lines with Trump? His threat of this ban "forgot" to mention the exceptions, such as China, India, Japan, the EU, etc.

On the other hand, the ban will be enforced on those sub-Saharan African companies that dare to trade with NK....and the manufacturers in Antarctica, too.

Meant in the same way that I am "considering" a trip to Mars aboard a nuclear powered luxury spacecraft crewed by nublie early 20s gymnasts.

It's not really them 'planning ahead', they would be even more screwed than we are because then they would have nobody to buy their goods. It would be massive damage for both parties involved. That being said, I imagine China has zero fear of the US actually cutting off trade with them, which makes Trump's empty threats yet another embarrassment. At this point I have no doubt that other countries don't take what the US says seriously anymore. This is bad for two reasons in that first, it prevents us from credibly bluffing and second, if there's ever a time Trump actually means what he says (lol) then this could cause other countries to seriously miscalculate and cause some major incident.

This is why you don't let incompetent, mentally ill people run a country.

I don't see President Trump doing anything drastic that would effect trade with China. I would think if he stopped all trade deals with China. I think China would retaliate against any business deals Trump has going on in China.

Back when china's economy was going gangbusters. We had a massive mining boom centred around pulling iron ore out of the ground and shipping it to china. So china attempted to purchase some smaller mining companies. Our government said no because the purchaser was essentially an arm of the chinese communist party. They did subsequently buy darwin port though which is the same port US marines use to supply/man their base up there.

They own some other stuff too. However a french multi-national corporation owns the weapons production for the ADF (issue small arms. APCs etc.) so make of that what you will.

Then of course there are their antics in the south china sea. Which they pretty much have seized control of. The US cannot do anything about that either. China are too big and too powerful.

I just had an evil thought. I wonder if it is in china's interest to keep the world focused on NK while they consolidate their seizure of the south china sea?

had same thought. similar anyway. mine went more seeing as president little fingers is criticising south korea, if china is on the ball then they get NK to stir more shit, hope little fingers acts the fool and makes not only south k but japan also think the US is too weak to protect them/retaliate if they're struck leading to a new pact made between china, japan and south k to protect from best korea. US loses it's influence in the area and china wins without more than a few phone calls.

either that or SK and japan put those nukes together pdq, tensions rise and WW3 starts in the next 24 months. seeing as i've been depressed for 3 years then i really don't care

That's already happening. Trump scuttling the TPP didn't help much. China is looking to fill the void left by the US (it's called the RECP). They have also been investing a lot of money into more developmentally challenged countries for quite a while. More developed countries like aus have problems with chinese investment when it ultimately comes from the central committee.

Other than that though it's all good. China is currently the worlds rising power both economically and militarily. Don't worry though trump knows what he is doing. You have seen the apprentice right? He really knows how to point at someone and shout you are fired! Which shows the world he is a real tough guy.

EDIT: Just to add as an australian the rise of china is a much more pressing reality. In more ways than one.
