The US has been "slipping backwards" for a long time. It's also a global trend (China, Turkey, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, half of the EU...). People decided they like capitalism. I don't see term limits as being a must have in a well functioning democracy. People can figure out, rather than relying on some lazy, arbitrary rule.
