Wonder how much of the chemical weapons in Syria were sent there from Iraq back in the 2003 war? It was the conservatives back then that said Iraq probably or could have hidden chemical WMD by shipping them to Syria. And the Repubs kept repeating that from the summer of 2003 through several years.

Now I realize most people on the left and right probably think the great majority of chemical WMD in Syria is not connected to the 2003 Iraq war. But that hasn't been proven. So my original question can still stand consideration. I lean to the left, I'm just trying to get the take of conservatives on this.

i think the West would prefer he stay in power but cease to use chemical weapons if he did in this latest attack considering Assad is fighting terrorists or potential terrorists.

Welcome first time poster. The official narrative blames him and his government for the attacks so taking out the officials behind them has been a primary goal of strikes in the past.

I doubt our goal is to assassinate Assad. Gerald Ford's 1976 executive order on foreign intelligence activities (issued after the disclosure that the CIA had plans to do in Fidel Castro) explicitly prohibits government employees from engaging in "political assassination."

You are correct in the fact that all participated. Part of the issue as I see it (and there is reporting out there to this effect) is Trump painted the U.S. and her allies into a corner with his twitter outburst about missiles being on the way. The twitter diplomacy needs to stop and his spur of the moment rantings need to come to an end.
