So many 401k investors are on auto-pilot and every month billions pour into the market. It takes a huge jolt to get them to stop.

What trade war? Here comes Fox News...err...Fox Business to tell everyone that the market reaction has nothing to do with trade war fears, this is just a small "correction". Don't flee the markets, now's the time to hunt for bargains!

During that ridiculous market run-up in January, Trump would go to his rallies and exhort his fans with "How's your 401(k) doing?" ... I assume he's not saying that so much lately.

He blows off the intelligence reports, but get a daily brief/binder with all the "good news" and tweets (atta boy Trumpie). Fox News certainly isn't highlighting the market drops.

He recently crowed about a major gain a couple of Mondays ago; totally disregarding the drop the previous Friday that dwarfed the gain. He simply isn't given bad news.

He blithely sails into the future oblivious of the past.

The US is far to wealthy in every way to fall anytime soon, plus it resides in a prime defensive position.

Why do you think North America always wins at RISK?

RISK is crap.

Axis & Allies FTW. The old version too, from Milton Bradley.

Played it with my brother and some friends once. After 4 days with no sleep we gave up.

This could pull us straight into a massive recession. Trump is out of touch. This is not the 1950s anymore. We don't have as much cloat as we did back in the day. Our manufacturing sector is not what is was, and Trump is misguided in his attempt to save the middle class from annihilation. China is in a much better position than they were 30 years ago. Middle America is going to get crushed with these new tarrifs. Trump is an old senile fool. If this works out for America than AWESOME. But, I have my doubts and this is just the beginning of the storn that is another recession. How bad? It could be really bad unless you're prepared for it. Also, has anyone noticed that the Chinese have been purchasing property throughout America and Canada? They are doing this for a reason. Many are nationalist and love their homeland. Owning poperty is power and the more money they dump into America and Canada via property ownership the more leverage that they'll have over us.

IMO, this is not the time to rest on your morals. Comfort is going to kill many Americans. Start hustling like your life depends on it. Start putting money in the bank. You should have about $100k so when and if the recession does hit you'll be prepared.

So far it looks like the effect may be that the price of some electronics goes up and the price of some food (e.g., pork) may go down. Not a problem for me personally.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...sider-100-billion-in-additional-china-tariffs
President Donald Trump said Thursday he is ordering the U.S. Trade Representative to consider $100 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese goods.
“In light of China’s unfair retaliation, I have instructed the USTR to consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate under section 301 and, if so, to identify the products upon which to impose such tariffs,” Trump said in a statement issued by the White House.

I think Trump is the first president intentionally crashing the stock market in an election year where his party is incumbent.

And like I posted earlier here, basic building materials going up as well. Not a problem for you of course because it's not like basic building materials affect anyone at all.

From CNBC.. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/05/sto...-big-warning-signal-to-washington-trader.html

"Meanwhile, Bouroudjian has concerns about the fact that China owns $1.17 trillion in U.S. Treasury bonds. If China decides to sell some of its holdings, many fear it could have dire consequences. On Thursday, former Morgan Stanley Asia chair Stephen Roach told CNBC it could cause a "rout" in the bond market.

And that's not all. Bouroudjian said no one is really talking about how China has $2 trillion in sovereign wealth fund money.

"They have a big stick. We have never fought a trade war with that much power behind the people we are fighting against. So we have to be very, very careful what we're asking for here," he said."

Interesting, So China has more pull than what Trump and his administration is admitting? I just think he's underestimiting the Chinese and he could pull us into a nasty recession. His supporters will like that idea. Well until it starts to hurt and they'll cry like babies.

China has been treating us unfairly for the past 20+ years. What should do we do about it? Treat them unfairly in return, right?

Your neighbor shows you his ass through the window and shits on your driveway, so you should show your neighbor your ass and shit on his driveway in return, right?

US conservatives are essentially political toddlers.

Keep on keepin' on.

Unfairly how? By supplying us with cheap goods and allowing Americans to get more for their money? And that's China's fault how exactly?
