Despite the ""carnage"", he seems unaware that Chicago is Per Capita one of the safest Cities in the US.
Are you trying to say that the crime in the south side doesn't really matter because the per-capita crime over the whole boundary of Chicago is "safe"? That area is responsible for the huge crime numbers, if it was its own city, I'm not even sure what the per capita rate would be, but it would be catastrophic.

But its not outside of his ability as president. If you want to have a discussion about the situation in Chicago then lets do it. Saying he is dangerous because he wants to execute executive abilities does not show he is dangerous. I do think he is going to do dumb shit and we will pay for it, but this does not seem like a dangerous action.
Also, I'm not saying that sending in the Army is what he is talking about. I would bet it would be something along the lines of federal agencies and not troops.
There is a veritable alphabet soup of federal agencies/LE mere blocks from where I'm sitting. Who's not here who should be?

My understanding is that when they met Trump offered federal help to Rahm. For his part Rahm listed a bunch of social and economic stuff off that he would like (not including Federal Agents/National Guard patrolling the streets or course) but never heard back from Trump. I can only assume that Trump's offer wasn't genuine and that he just wants to be able to claim he offered to help.
I suspect he means the FBI or something less than the Military, but really this is just another one of his rash decisions. He sees something, he Tweets about it, that's exactly how he's going to be for the next 4 years. Little consideration taken, no consultations, Micro Managing other jurisdictions. Also, Chicago might be safer when you look at per capita, but when you look at regions in the city, its horrific. Having a president want to do something about a huge number of murders is not a bad thing which you seem to be arguing about. Is it dumb to go on social media before reaching out or meeting with people sure, but its not "Authoritarian declarations". That is dumb to try and argue.
If you think he is making a mistake, then say that. Saying he wants to invade Chicago is super dumb.

I agree that it's a problem, the problem here is his response. There are things he can do to help with this situation. Acting like a tyrant is not one of them.
I don't know what he could do though. He can't send in troops. He might do some things but unless requested there's a limited response. Sounds like big talk and no clues.
