Does anybody remember Trump's performance during the Republican primary debates? He didn't know the details, didn't do the broad ideas and largely stuck to his jabs or being off-topic. He's a candidate with huge flaws. If Clinton can just meet the low bar of at least appearing to talk competently about the subject at hand she may come out looking more "Presidential," overall. Repeatedly attacking Trump may cause total implosion. On substance, I don't think Trump can do any better as he operates in innuendo and vague generalizations, not in the intricacies.

I don't think he stands a chance at a one on one in real terms - that's not his strength - but what Trump can do is get himself three or so well-timed and on-topic zingers for the media to loop over and he may do well enough to not deflate his campaign. After that, he doesn't have a need for any further debates.

The people that remember are the ones who weren't going to vote for him the first place, the others, no fucks given. This is merely a symptom of American politics. Hillary lied, Trump lied, Cruz lol lied practically every sentence. Hillary's team is studying the Comedy Central Donald Trump Roast. He got pissed off that comedians were making fun of him. I watched part of it years ago, he was really getting upset. I wonder how many practice debate partners he will go thru?

DT is way the easier candidate to satirize, it's not even close. In fact, the whole country has been satirizing him for months, in daily life, making jokes about him in various contexts that pop up. He's fascinating, like a stand up comic. What worked in the GOP primaries won't necessarily work in a general election, though. Republicans are very much a subset of the electorate. DT's managed to alienate an awful lot of people and the things he's done to do that are not hard to dig up and highlight. The Dem's strategists have quite an arsenal to choose from and the conventions are yet to come.

He's already on the left of Hillary in terms of foreign policy. If he can run to the left of her on the drug war as well I believe that's enough to defeat her in the debates. That said his problem isn't the debates, he needs to actually fundraise and build a campaign infrastructure in the swing states. He can smash Hillary in every debate and will still lose if he doesn't have a big organized ground game driving people to the polls on election night and doing the little things to get a higher turnout.

You know... another red flag that Donald is totally full of horse pucky, he will refuse to debate.
After all the threats, all his boasting, I could see Donald coming up with some excuse not to debate Hillary at all.
And if Paul Ryan has any brains, he will agree that Donald NOT debate.
