I have a 1998 Mercury Sable sedan with a 10 disk CD changer in the trunk, however, neither it or the remote work. I bought the car recently from a used car dealership and they had no idea (or warranty) how to operate the changer. A tech from Best Buy looked at it briefly and we saw that while the remote does power up, that's about it. There is nothing displayed on the remote screen and none of the buttons do anything. The radio head unit (stock) simply says no CD is inserted.
As for the changer itself, its mounted in the trunk with the carpet cut around it, leading the Best Buy tech to think that the changer may be an aftermarket unit. Pressing the eject button doesn't do anything and there's no sound, heat or vibration coming from it which probably means it doesn't have any power. The only info I was able to find about the changer is from the remote, which had the brand name 'Prestige.'
Is there anyway to figure out how to get this changer working?
