Trust Tiger's Rebated?

Tons of hot tiger deals lately, what do you think about their rebates?

I don't think you posted in the wrong forum. This does discuss the reliability of a hot deal irradiating from Tiger. It may not be a hot deal in and of itself but it does give attention to the matter.

I purchased 2 200gb hard drives last year with rebates from TD and got both of them back within 5 weeks... I don't see a problem with them except their rediculoulsy high shipping prices for USPS. (Shipping to an APO)

My experience: no worse than anyone else. I've had no problems with the Ultra rebates. The manufacturer's rebates from small, obscure companies always seem a little dicey regardless of who is selling the goods (Tiger, Fry's, PC Connection or others). I've gotten all of them, rarely having to contact a company, but one did ask me to resubmit and paid promptly thereafter.

The only bad experience I've had with them so far... I e-mailed their customer support, linking them to a laptop they were selling, and asking about the battery that comes with it. How longs it last, what cell is it, etc, and they e-mailed me back with:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

At present we are not equipped to offer shipping quotes via E-mail, but

So yeah. Maybe they have a couple of guys working there that can't read English right? Or someone who just plain didn't even read my message. I'm sure it was just some dumb mistake though. Other than that.. They have some cheap laptops, cheaper than NewEgg. I've always used NewEgg in the past, never thinking that Tiger could match or beat prices of NewEggs, or have better products. I might start looking around the next time I buy computer parts, but man, rebates are ghey and risky.

EDIT: I'm still waiting for a $250 dollar Circuit City Rebate I just went online and entered the Rebate tracking number they gave me at their site and it says "Rebate not found." I'll just have to wait till the 8 week is up, and if I don't get it I'm gonna be pissed and have to call them. (I'll have to wait till the end of the month for the 8 weeks).

What's funny about that rebate is.. I purchased a Laptop, and was told all the specs on it, that the battery could last like 1.5 hours, etc. Then when I got it up and running after buying it and sending in rebates, I realized the battery couldn't even last an hour. I had to nag my way through managers at Circuit City, then they finally accepted my return. Since I had already sent in the rebate, they just asked me, "How much was the rebate for?" so that they could deduct the rebate from the money they gave me back..

Well, at the time, I swore the rebate was for $200, so I told them $200 dollars. A week later Circuit City sends me a confirmation e-mail saying they got my $250 dollar rebate and it's in processing.. I was like, whoops. Oh well, I guess the $50 dollars I'm making from Circuit City can be for the missadverising of that laptop, and the gas money I had to spend going back and fourth to the store. I'm still thinking today what would have happened if I told them the rebate was only for like, $100 bucks.

Well, either is always possible, they are based here in Miami

I'd trust Tiger pretty far when it comes to anything but rebates. They've always came through quickly with any regular order that I've had.

I did my first TD rebate and I received the "rebate received" email and am now waiting for the rebate. I just sent it in a couple of weeks ago so I'm expecting to wait at least a couple more weeks for my $50 rebate on the Celeron D 340. I'll update the thread if it's not locked by then. I agree this is technically in the wrong forum but what with everyone complaining about TD rebates whenever a deal is posted maybe those people will post here instead of in the deal threads.

TD. Love 'em or hate 'em after a couple orders and rebates .

It's a gamble really. If things work out like they're supposed to with TD then you're fine. It's just when there's a problem and you have to contact their customer service that you're pretty much SOL.

I haven't gotten a SINGLE rebate from any of the items I've ever bought from TD, and I track everything, I've contacted customer support multiple times, sent them faxes and copies of my rebates, recipts, etc etc and was ASSURED I would get a credit to my card, and STILL got nothing.

I'll never buy another item from TD. Period, and I pass this information along to all my friends, as well as anyone I build a computer for or anyone who asks me where to get parts for computers.

I've ordered from Tiger in the past and they have officially lost my business because they suck.

I'm liking ZZF and mwave.
Mwave doesn't get much stroke around here, but they've treated me better than I could imagine.
Perfect shipping, you can talk to humans on the phone, rma is a breeze.

I just can't pass up on some of their deals. Got a Ultra Dragon Tower case (Chieftec Clone) and Ultra X-Connect Power Supply for $39.99AR. My rebates went through OnRebate.com and I got them back in two months.

If I see another good deal from them I would probably jump on it.

I've done roughlty 6 TD rebates through OnRebate.com and all of them went through. As of right now I have one for that $90 Maxtor Drive (The TD of HD's I suppose? :b) in progress. I trust it'll go well.

Speaking for myself and a friend of mine (who really likes getting rebates and buys
pretty much everything that's FAR): we've got all of TD rebates. It does help to
submit them via OnRebate.com (i.e. electronically) -- sometime you'd get the
rebate back within 2-3 weeks (if you choose a credit to your PayPal account). In most
other cases (not just TD) a company would honor the rebate if "it was lost in the mail"
and you can provide copies of all the materials submitted. ... true though that often times
it's not worth spending 30mins on the phone to get your $10 back.

I have had 1 rebate with TD and I recieved in a timely manner. The rebate was for $100.
