Thanks. I'll definately need it since I have little experience with soldering. I ordered the parts today, so I'll post more after I break something.

I ordered a 1.3 and the t-slot adapter, and I am now running about 1.4 overclocked at 1.30 volts, and it R0Xor's my BoxORS!

Nice
What mbrd is that on?

Btw for anyone in the UK the Cel Ts are still available. The 1.2GHz is going for about £35 from MicroDirect

Anyone experiencing overheating (or signs of overheating) doing this?
Games have started crashing, rebooting the computer, etc - IE, signs of overheating, ever since I went from a P3 500 to a Celeron 1.2.

When running MotherboardMonitor, I find 2 sensors, one displaying ~30C and one ~55-60C. The first is system temperature, and the second is unknown. One would assume the second was the CPU, but the temperature stays the same when changing to the old P3 500. In either case, I wouldn't think 55-60 is hot enough to crash the computer.
I also removed the CPU right after the computer had crashed, and didn't find it especially warm.

What else could it be? Is it in fact any overheating at all, or is the good ol' BH6 just a bit too "ol'"?

Temp readings dont work. Whatever is your crashing problem, I don't think it's heat. My buddy now has the system that started this post. He games on it non stop (BF1942) and never has any instability issues.

I just tried with the P3 500 again. It also crashes now, all though I can play a lot longer than with the Celeron. The fact that it ran a lot longer seem to point to a heat problem, but the fact that it crashes at all doesn't... Strange.

Could be component failure on the mbrd?......then again it could be RAM
You'll need to test a whole load of things before you know

Hey now, thats C as in Celsius, not Fahrenheit ! An AMD at 60c is not gonna run for long ... I definitely would be giving that HSF a hard long look for problems. I had my 1600+ up to 54c when I screwed up a heatsink fan with a 60mm to 80mm fan install and it was not a good thing. I'm assuming the heatsink fan is different from the P350 to the C1.2 so it may be something else thats causing a heat buildup.

Can you guys help me upgrade my bh6? I'm not very concerned about OCing if I can get a 1.4 working

1) How do I check for which MOSFETs I have?

2) I have a 300a Celeron with fan and heat sink, can I reuse the fan and heat sink?
Does it just pull off the 300a?

3) Where is a good place to buy a CPU / Heat Sink / Fan
I see mwave has INTEL CELERON 1.4 GHZ FC-PGA2 with cpu fan for $57 Will this work
in a Slot T on a BH6?

3) If I have the 45N03 NOFSET, what is the best upgrade I can do?
Which CPU
Which Slotkit and where can I buy it Can I just use the Slot-T even for a 900 mhz celeron?

Thanksabunchamillion for any help

1) Look at the 2 little square black chips in between the CPU lot and the printer port. It will be 45n03 ,50n03 or 55n03.
2) No. Get a retail 1.4 and use the HS that comes with it
3) Newegg, Googlegear, Mwave. Your choice. Get he box retail with the HS/Fan
4) There is not enough evidence to say the 45n03 is defiantly a problem. I would definitely use a Tualatin Celeron since they will give you more performance per $ and use less power than a CuMine Celeron. If you are nervous, you can go with a Tually 1.1 or 1.2.

Hey Oldfart Thanks!

I have the 50n03 MOSFET so I'm good for a 1.4.
I just upgraded my bios to handle a 40 gig drive so I'm ready.

I checked mwave google gear and newegg.
Only newegg says whether the chip is a "Tualatin" core

Is there another way to tell if the celeron is a Tualatin Otherwise I'll end up calling
my order in to be sure.

Any chance you've put a GForce video card in your bh6 abit? That's my next upgrade
after the cpu.

All Celerons are Tualatin from 1.2GHz up ,Cel 1.0A & 1.1A are also Tualatin ,but 1.0 & 1.1.GHz are not ,these are coppermine based.
Fastest PIII coppermine that I know of is the 1.1GHz (not including the recalled 1.13GHz).Tualatin PIIIs start from 1.13GHz ,I don't think they start lower.

Btw Intel have a spec sheet for a Celeron 950 Tualatin but I've never seen one for sale

Ok, I bought a Slot T for myself and plan on using it on a Gateway Tabor 3 mobo that I currently have a P3 1 ghz in. The cpu is running a 100 FSB and it appears that there is no way to get it to do 133. Here's the specs for the board:
Gateway Tabor 3 WS440BX MoBo
Would it be worth it to get a 1.1a for $41 and bump the FSB to 112 (assuming 133 is out of spec and the board does not support a 1/4 divider) using a utility or should I just get the 1.4 for $58 and see what that will do. I really don't want to spend almost $20 more for the 1.4 but its probably the safest bet. Also, reading about this config menu here, I'm guessing that I couldn't specify a higher FSB than 100 here either. Sadly, BX boards are getting next to nonexistent in my collection of parts and ANYTHING other than an Intel board would give me what I want but alas, this is what I am stuck with :disgust: TIA for any help !

Will do ... thx for the input ! One last try here, I will pop the case and see if I can't ID the PLL chip and use CPUfsb CPUfsb

rogue1979, What kind of heatsink are u running on your be6 II? My friend told me an alpha6045 would not fit with my Iwill slotketIII, so I had to replace it out with a noisy golden orb.

I've got the chance to buy an Abit BH6 v1.01 cheap.

Atm I don't have the time to trawl through this thread so if someone could tell me if it supports coppermine CPUs' (Abits site is contradictory, doesn't list PIII Copp but does list Cel copp! ).
Also is this the mbrd rev that has major probs with blowing caps?
Does it have a 1/4 PCI divider?

Quick answer would be much appriecated as the bloke wants an answer from me!

that contradiction could be because p3-cu uses 133fsb and the board doesnt support it? i guess

Yes, it supports CuMine CPUs, but only 100 MHz FSB. It does not have a 1/4 PCI divider.

Err no ,there are many PIIIs that have a 100MHz FSB ,thanks anyway

Old Fart
Thanks for that ,I think I'll go for it though I'm not sure its worth £25 without the 1/4 PCI divider.

Which revisions do have the 1/4 divider?
