Truth or Hype - fanless P4 heatsink?

I ran across this press releasefrom OCZ about their new P4 heatsink that does not need a fan. Think this thing really works?

What do they mean its fanless on there product page it has a fan on it
OCZ doesn't make heatsinks, its always a rebadge of something else.
It could be used as a passive sink, but no fan at all witha P4 (aircooled, nothing fansy) can't be done.
Dell Dimension 8200 comps use passive sinks very similar too this but aluminum and bigger, and it ducted too an exhaust fan 92mm, thats very quiet 15db or so pushes a sorry 20cfm, but it does its job.

Do you guys think that that microfin technology crap REALLY works? I've been messing around with a lot of newer stock AMD and dynatron microfin coolers, and I have not been impressed at all. Some manufacturers make some heezy ones, like the famous Vantec CCK6035, and some make crap ones (i.e. dynatron)

I think they released that heatsink due to the advance chip throttling features of the p4. Even if the heatsink isn't sufficient enough to cool the p4 it'll just reduce the clock speed therefore affecting performance. No damage will be done to the chip, however performance will definately suffer. That heatsink definately doesn't look like it's enough to cool the p4 passively but I could be wrong.

that heatsink is designed for 1U rackmount where there is height limit of ~1 inch.

The heatsink alone will not provide sufficent cooling to the chip. You will still need to direct enough cool air flow to carry
the heat away from the heatsink.

BTW, Dynatron's "microfin" stuff is just a fancy name for skive technology.
Vantec's heatsink uses bonding to attach the fins to the base.

IMO, skive is better than bonding since fin and base is one piece instead of 2.
