Titanfall will be free on Origin for two days. The two days start when you first load the game after download and install.

To get started, just head over to Origin's free games page and add the title to your account. Furthermore, if you decide to purchase the game after your Game Time runs out, you'll get to keep all of your unlocks and progress.

"Titanfall is only the beginning for Game Time and there's more on the way," teased EA. "Each Game Time will be unique: different game, different time on the Game Time clock. We'll keep you posted on Twitter and Facebook when your next Origin Game Time game begins."

Titanfall, while ultimately failing to live up to the hype (how could it?) is still a fun, deathmatch-style shooter. If you were on the fence about picking it up, what a better way to make up your mind than playing it for two days for free?

EA has been doing a lot of good, pro-consumer things lately. I wish people would stop having an irrational hatred for them.

I might have to break my ban on Origin...I tried Titanfall on an XB1 and liked how it seemed in the short time but was on a TV too small to really play it well. I'll have to get Origin ultimately for Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 so this wouldn't be a bad way to start.

Origin has just unveiled its new "Game Time" initiative, where gamers can play a game for a set period of time for free, and its kicked it off with arguably the biggest game in its library: Titanfall. The concept may seem familiar to anyone who's experienced Steam's "free weekends," but unlike Steam, in which a game is made "free" for a specific period of time, with Game Time, your "free time" only starts ticking the first time you boot up the game. That means if you first boot up the game on Sunday evening, you'll be able to play until Tuesday night.

Bingo.

Gotta say giving you a free period of time that you can start when it works best for you rather than in a predetermined window is a pretty good idea.

Definitely agree. For one it fits into your schedule to try it, but it also prevents a flood of noobs at one time.

Fantastic that this is happening, i have considered this title big time but forking the cash over for a game without some sort of demo or beta bothers me. Every game i have ever bought i played the beta or demo first.

Can't find any information on when it will be available. This download is the entire game with no lock outs?

I thought they were killing Origin, though? Still chugging along, it seems.

I've not heard that at all. My friends (who play craploads of BF4) hate on Origin a lot mostly because it has EA's name on it, but it's a pretty solid piece of software at this point imo.

Not sure where you heard that. Origin has been growing steadily ever since release.

I still prefer Steam because of it's game installation process and vastly bigger catalog, but Origin has some things going for it too (faster client, built-in support chat, automatic refunds, etc)

Yea, Origin is pretty good. I consider it Steam-lite, and that's not a bad thing. Steam is still my primary game service of choice, but Origin isn't bad. Much of the PR angst when Origin was started has been dealt with. A while back they adopted a EULA that is virtually identical to Steam, so player rights are pretty much the same. A proper backup tool is still missing so it isn't perfect, but it doesn't contain all the social bloat of Steam so the client actually runs well.

In the end I don't really see it as competition to Steam because Origin caters only to EA gamers, whereas Steam caters to everyone. It is a proper service, unlike stuff like Uplay, Rockstar Online, and GFWL, which are tacked on to games.

I agree with Dankk. EA deserved some serious hate earlier on, but they have made strides. I still think Call of Duty is rinse/wash/repeat crap that caters to the least common denominator, but I'm long since stopped the irrational hatred against EA proper. I'll just not buy those games, but I don't want to pass on games I do like just because I'm supposed to hate EA on based on some sort of principle.

Never had a problem with Origin at all and they also give away full version games for free that my daughters love like Peggle and Plants Vs Zombies. Sometimes they have games on sale too.

Call of Duty has nothing to do with EA. CoD is an Activision title.

Wow well I stand corrected on that count. For some reason I affiliated CoD with EA. Doesn't change what I feel about the game series though. CoD4:MW was the last one I really liked.

not seeing this even on the link provided in the articles.

It's the first thing that pops up in origin when you start it.

Very smart move by EA. With some poor reviews I've avoided it, but it'll be nice to give it a go.

You know what is worse about the 50GB download? Most of it is audio files for languages you don't even speak, I am not kidding. 35GB of the install is audio and most of it is in a different language to the one you select when you play the game. The game could have been 15GB if they didn't ship this enormous amount of uncompressed (yup that double whammy right there!!!) audio.
