Trying a 4K TV as PC monitor

So just reporting on my recent experience on trying a GTX 1060 onto a Hisense 43H7C from Best Buy. I have The Division and I have been playing 1080p on Ultra so that is my "baseline". First of all the TV has 2 HDMI inputs labelled 4k@60hz and 2 more 4K@30Hz. Tried the former and that didn't work. Read up a little and it seems I don't have a high speed HDMI. So I tried 30hz. Not really playable for me at it seems choppy. Didn't have fraps loaded up but I was basing it all on the baseline. Got high speed HDMI cables from Amazon and lo and behold 60hz does work. Playing however still sucks but does seem a little better but not nearly as good as my baseline again. I reverted to just 1080p and I guess my baseline with my old Panny 1080p set looked tons better.
I guess this thing is going back and I'll just have to save a few more hundred bucks for a better one.

I'm assuming that's a 43" TV? At that size range, there are actual 4K monitors available. TV's have a wider selection but once you factor in input lag and true chroma subsampling, very few will meet the criteria.

I suppose so but I'm cheap so that would explain why I'm doing everything right?

TVs don't handle text very well. If you're using it for more than just gaming - it's worth it to spend a couple hundred more and get a monitor.

Korean monitors go for similar prices as that TV and you get true 4:4:4 chroma and low input lag.

I bought a 4K TV only because there were no monitor options in the size range I wanted. If I was looking for 40" to 45", I wouldn't have even looked at TV's.

Actually, the text on this set was very nice which was surprising. It was one of those pluses I found for it.

Could the problem be your 1060 doesn't have enough power to run 4k60 or does the TV just suck as a monitor?

TV's usually have a lot of input lag compared to a monitor, you don't notice as much on consoles since you sit farther away in general and console controls aren't as precise anyway. That might be the cause or something else since its hdmi

I did turn down the settings on the graphics to see if it fairs better but it was basically the same. And why was it still bad at 1080p? But, you maybe right that the 1060 couldn't cut it just yet.
Might also be bad input lag.
