For gaming, what GPU do they have in them? I wouldn't consider either the Ryzen 3 3200U nor the i3-8145U to have a "Gaming-quality" iGPU, although the Ryzen probably has the edge there.
I would look up a few price bins, at laptops with MX150 or MX250 "cards" (actually, probably MXM modules, but who's counting), probably around $500-600. You might not find them with i3 CPUs though, they're probably going to be paired up with 4C Ryzen CPUs (H-series), or i5 U-series (8th-Gen) 4C. Really, though, for gaming these days, you want 4 cores anyways. So yeah, look at $600 entry-level Gaming laptops, Asus has a few.
Also check out Walmart's laptop selection, and my Hot Deals forum thread here detailing some deals on them.
You can get a 14" HP Ryzen 3 3200U with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD for $269 at Walmart right now, shipped. Those can be upgraded to 16GB of DDR4 easily enough (for an additional $70 or so). (*)
Again, though, I wouldn't consider that to be in any way a "gaming laptop". Rather, a "Budget laptop", that might be able to play an occasional game at 720P once in a while.
(*) I own this laptop, and I did upgrade the RAM to 16GB. It's a great browser / Skype laptop, and still has a Gigabit ethernet jack too, something that's becoming more of a rarity these days.
Edit: Most of the laptops that Walmart sells, are all 1366x768P, so be aware of that. The few that are 1080P, are generally significantly more expensive.
