Trying to find a game from the 90s....

You played as a slave on a plantation that tries to get away. It was for the PC I believe, and this was in the 90s. Several things could happen, like getting Bitten By Snake, when you escaped and were in hot pursuit you could try to throw pepper on ground in an attempt to throw off the hounds that were trying to pursue you, etc. etc.

Any idea what the name was?

Holy crap, thoughts just came rushing back in my head. I remember playing something similar in school. If you were lucky, you could read or write or forge papers to help you escape.

Based on the Wikipedia description? Err... no. Slaves were generally not taught to read and write. It's not racist to portray history. In fact, it sounds like they even made sure to portray rare literate slaves too. That was going above and beyond and yet you and others would still object?

Anyone notice how the machine that this game was on is now considered to have a lot of slaves (in a manner of speaking) following their company.

Never had the pleasure of playing it though, wonder if it's still available somewhere.
