Trying to get an internship

So i'm a sophmore at a business college. I think i'm doing pretty good, over a 3.7 GPA. However, I'm ashamed to say that I don't really have any working experience. I thought the point of an internship is for you to gain the experience for your field later on. The problem is that all the internships ask for a resume. I know how to write one up but the problem is on the part "working/experience" it'll be empty. The thing is i'm trying to get working experience, but it's asking me for prior working experience. So we have a little catch 22 going on here. My resume will be pretty weak other than listing my GPA, awards and member of a club. I'm wondering do these internships just want to see a resume for the heck of it, or are they really looking for past experience? By the way it's an accounting internship.

edit* thank you hj03 for spotting that

I don't have any advice to make your resume better, but the easiest place to get a job is your own college. You're only a sophomore, you don't need a "real" internship yet. Find something business related to do at your school and then go for the big jobs next year.

Having previous work experience is very important. You may have to do start up some volunteering or get a job and put those on your resume. Of course they will see that you have just started but at least you will have something there. Or, just focus on areas other than previous experience.

Thanks for pointing that out. But, you didn't have to be blunt. I'm pretty sure most people in this forum mispells from time to time, and besides it seems like everyone understands i'm a sophOmore without any troubles.

Same here, my first job is during the Summer of my freshmen year in college.

My resume is just empty. All I can do is list out all the courses I took, and my GPA.
And also list out hobbies, and what you think where your expertise is.

I posted my resume on job searching site, and an employer contacted me 2 weeks later.

That's how I get my first job.

If you dont have work experience, bundle volunteer experience into it as well. Dont be afraid to add in your summer job at McDonalds if that's all you have. If you've NEVER had a job then shame on you for being a mooch.

If this internship won't get in the way of your studies, then by all means do it.
Worked for Monica!!

If you have had good grades, or you attended Prof office hours much (remember people telling you to do that?), go ahead and ask one of them if they have heard, or know of any jobs for Undergraduates--preferably go to one that you enjoyed, because you can add in how you enjoyed their class (genuinely).

In my experience, professors enjoy this--both my roomate and I have gotten jobs this way. Especially with business Profs--I'd expect they at the very least know of someone with a job available for you, or can MAKE available for you (networking skills--a must have for later on in life, might as well start now eh?).

If it's a professor you have had before, I would not worry about the resume too much--it's nice to have a good looking resume, but if they saw you in class and in office hours, that's worth much more than what a piece of paper says.
