trying to get SLI working

2 x evga 6800 gt's (pci-e of course)
A8N SLI

here is the error message i'm getting:
your displays which are attached to your secondary video card, will appear blank when SLI is enabled.
This is because your secondary graphics card will accelerate your primary card.
Connect your display to the primary graphics cards when your system restarts.

the error message is from the SLI-multi GPU tab when i check the box to enable then press apply. i've tried connecting the monitor to both of the different cards and both of the different monitor connections on each card. i have don't even have multiple monitors so i'm not sure why this is happening. the device manager sees two monitors which is odd because i only have the one. the monitor i have, is listed properly but hte second is called "defualt monitor". i've disbled and uninstalled the "default monitor" a couple times but it reappears with every reboot. any ideas guys?

You should have two "monitors" listed in SLI mode; your video card has dual outputs, and this is how they are represented in Windows. If you run in non-SLI mode, you will have *four* "monitors", even if nothing is hooked up to the other three outputs.

The 'error message' you describe is a warning telling you that you cannot use the displays on the second card while in SLI mode.

ok, i've already tried deleting both monitors, didn't work. i currently have 2 monitors listed but i'm not in SLI mode because everytime i boot to windows it asks me whether i want to turn sli mode on. when i check the box, it gives me that error and the box automatically unchecks itself. the connector is in place.

It is not an error, unfortunately nVidia's SLI does not support two monitors when SLI is enabled. Hopefully this will be fixed in a new driver.

He does not have 2 monitors. Try a diff driver, 67.66. What are you using now?

OK, this might not help at all.

Rember that digtial monitors are not supported by SLI at this time.
Your monitor should be plugged into the Card in the blue slot. I'm not sure it matters which plug.

"digital" monitors do work with SLI...DVI works with SLI...

I don't either and have SLI, this is just a generic message by nVidia's drivers to tell those that may have dual monitors what will happen to the other when SLI is enabled.

I'll try my LCD monitir again. I could not install the cards with it before. I have heard several people say that they are not supported. While trying to install the first thing the level 2 tech at Asus wanted me to do was to swicth out my LCD or a CRT monitor.
