Well, between my whole house wiring project, trying to get DSL, home improvement stuff, and a nasty surgery I had to have recently, i have successfully gotten completely out of touch with the team.

What's the news? I heard something about bad clients....

What is the approved client version now? I just got all my network back up, but don't want to start cracking and have my work thrown out...

Thanks,

Any client on the official Client download page will work. They have removed the bad client (v2.8012.466 and v2.8012.465) .

What happened to the whole 8011 464 series.....? They just disappeared folder and all...

That's the version I have on every single machine! Ouch....

Welcome back, Clay!

Unfortunately, that's part of the client distros that were pulled. You will have to downgrade to the latest available client in order for your work to be counted.

Dang good to hear from you, and speedy recovery from the operation.

Welcome back cautery!

You'll have to shoot us some pictures of how your wiring job turned out. Hope it doesn't look anything like my mess!

Wow! nice welcome back y'all! Thank you....

I've already changed the executables on all my machines, and will start bringing them up soon.

I'm in the big middle of the DSL Order from hell, but I'm using my router anyway, so they'll all be feeding through my dial-up.

Now if I can just limer up a little more so I can go pull the last six cable pulls to my HT area. I have a Toshiba 65H80 that's going to arrive next week, and I'll need the wiring completed by then. <putting a node in the HT area to serve as a directory for my DVDs, VHS, and CDs....

Anyway... should start seeing some work from me soon.

Where does the effort need to go right now? RC5 or OGR?

Later...

cautery,

8011 is fine. DNet considered that one a pre-release client, but they won't be voiding future results from that client ( is till have it on several machines myself).

Oh, and welcome back.

Clay: tell us more about the HT you are building! Looks like you've chosen a great RPTV

I'm in the middle of construction of my HT (which started off as a very small project of removing a closet).

Aha! I knew you couldn't keep away Clay. Seriously though man, it's good to see your health is looking up, and you're stopping by once again Since you're back into the mood, have you tried overclocking the DVD player and finding a way to install the clinet on it yet?

Man! It's like "Old Home Week" in this thread! You guys have certainly saved what turned out to be a tough day!

Telocity cancelled my DSL order today, so I had to START ALL OVER with PacBell on my other telco line with a new order (and PacBell doesn't offer a static IP).

But "seeing" all my old firends (and new guys too) really helped out....

So....

Jator, 8011 is OK? I'll have to go back and switch em back over (have to switch to RC5 in the .ini file anyway) as 8011 is much faster in my systems.... I still have the original archive if anyone wants it.... email me.

DanC, Polo, jatwell, mechBgon... Thanks for the kind words... <sniff, sniff>

Mika, nice pics... Looks like what happens to all of MY projects! I have a ton of pics of the whole house re-wire.... I'll add some pics of the current state of affairs and post a couple of caption pages as soon as I get some time.... The surgery slowed me down for several weeks, and I have to get the COAX and telco lines pulled to the HT area before the Tosh 65 arrives!

Anyone have any suggestions how to drill a hole through the top cap at 8' buried in the front wall of my 12' vaulted ceiling? (without tearing out the dry wall on one side) i can drill the top cap at 12' from the attic, but I'm sure there is another one at 8' (4' down inside the wall). This is the last drop I have to pull before I am finished with the wiring project. Except for pulling out all the old coax and telco wire, patching all the old wall-plate holes, etc, etc...

Hey there Clueless!

ViRGE - Nope... haven't hacked a DVD yet....

Thanks, KGBMAN!

Good to be back ZapZilla!

Gonna go hang with the wife unit for a while now before beddy-bye....

Take care,

Clay, they make some REALLY long drill bits for that - I've used a 6 footer before. Watch out for the windup, it can be exciting!

Maybe you can rent one?
