TSA Pre-Check Rules!

I had 15 books that were about 300 pages each. She asked me why I had so many books and I told her I was going to teach a class in another state.

At what point do you think it was justified for her to flip through each book one page at a time from the beginning to end? Not to mention the hundreds of people in line behind me. She only stopped going page-by-page when I started complaining about her behavior.

Yeah, I flew to Florida a couple months ago from San Diego. By the time we landed in Orlando and collected our rental car you would have been halfway to Phoenix.

And I would have been enjoying my ride. It's obviously not an option if time is a factor, like on a business trip, but I like to make the ride part of the vacation. I used to like flying too, and I suck it up when I have to, but it's not my first choice.

I'm still baffled at why a pre-check would work....
So lets say with a new ISIS recruit with a clean record sign up for a pre-check. Afterward, this person can just skip the recheck routine ??
I mean its good for 5 yrs. What if a person decide later to become a terrorist...

Its been a few years since I did mine but they used to open up more dates\times for appointments and would have frequent cancellations so its worthwhile to check back

Google says it takes 35 hours for that drive. If your flight and getting a rental car took 17.5 hours then either there were some serious weather\mechanical issues (that are not common as shown by airline on time rates) or you did it wrong

The best solution is to have everyone do the TSA Pre-Check but step up the random intensive searches. That balances (a) efficiency for passengers, (b) cost for the TSA and thus passengers, while (c) making it really difficult to get more than a single bad person on a plane.

While a agree that TSA is security theater I do think the theory behind Pre-Check makes sense. If I've had a background check done already they can more properly evaluate my level of risk compared to someone who just has a valid form of ID.

35 hours from San Diego to Phoenix? It only takes about 6 hours to get to Phoenix from here. So, he would have been about an hour or so outside of Phoenix by the time I was picking up my rental car in FL.

I'd say it would take at least 4-5 days to drive from San Diego to Orlando.

You'd have to be out of your fucking mind to do that drive unless you were only planning on doing it once (like if you were moving there).

8 hours is about my cutoff of fly/vs drive. Particularly with kids. It's two extra tickets, a mountain of more work to schlopp their baggage around, plus waits in the airport, ect. Plus you usually have to get a rental car on the other end adding more cost on. It's not cheap.

If you are going to get global entry and travel even a little bit, it makes sense to look into the citi prestige card. They will reimburse you $100 for the global entry fee as well as $500 ($250 each calendar year) in airline spend, which covers the $450 annual fee.

Plus you get aa lounge access and a bunch of other stuff.

Amex plat reimburses GE/Precheck as well.
