Could someone tell me what the following are on the first gate 7400?
1. Theres nodes where multiple branches meet and its a bar instead of a dot. Theres also usually a small arrow on one of the branches following the bar looking node.
2. In some schematics the bar is curled on the ends like the integral sign. whats the difference?
3. The bigger arrows have a bar on the tip and its curled if the others are as well.

Arrow + bar = Diode

Integral sign bar = Zener Diode

Yup thats it. But unfortunately i dont know what those are yet. If im making a circuit or whatever with an AND gate to make a simple binary with LEDs. I dont need to account for the schematics as long as i know the inputs and outputs from the IC?

Nope, you don't need to account for any of the inner workings if you just want to utilize the "AND" logic. I believe a 7400 is just a standard 2 input, 1 output. So just have your two inputs connect to the two inputs and to your output and you're good to go.

Is that a question or a statement? What do you mean by "account for the schematics"? Your project's purpose, available resources and goal are ambiguous.

I have ascertained the following:
1. You have a schematic of a circuit your wish to construct
2. You have a collection of components of unknown function
3. At least 1 AND gate and at least 1 LED will be involved (don't forget a current-limiting resistor!)

Q proved him wrong, you know.

Q: "Simple. Change the gravitational constant of the universe."
LaForge: "What!?"
Q: "Change the gravitational constant of the universe."

I didnt know how to put it because i dont know exactly what im supposed to do. I have to construct some simple circuit. Vin to resistor to switch( to IC/to ground) then the Output of IC to LED to resistor to Vin. I was wondering how i would find the correct resistors to use. I dont see the overall picture of whats going on since both sides Vin makes the LED light up? Doesnt there need to be a voltage drop? Vin Vout? no clue im lost.
