nice find. and best of all, they're ALL running at the same clock speed and at the same fsb.

EDIT: NEVERMIND, miss read the graph.

Well that is a pretty picture, not if the dang thing would work on a BX board, but alas, thats a wet dream...

Hope the cost is low for one, then it might accually be a decent chip.(within 50 clams of a similar speed the t-bird)

I think the significance is over looked. Tualatins are the interm for smp machines. The cache the Tualatin has gives it a massive edge over the athlon in server environments.

1. Is this with memory interleaved in the KT7A?
2. Was memory at 2-2-2 or slower?

i would assume that both setups were at the highest possible settings given their high fsb.

from the babelfish translation:

<< Like small Ken non- right God, ? way ? normal ? possession error? Raw, reason small Ken extraordinary concern net friend opinion ? criticism and possession? >>

<< All the new coming out? Intel Pentium III Tualatin grave ? measuring >>

<< AMD Athlon ? Intel Pentium III because for this volume measuring test selection the ? illuminating ? elephant and the AMD Athlon >>

If Ken's right, the Tualatin looks good. Now to find the illuminating elephant...

Those translations are bloody hilarious.

PLEEEEEEEEASE run on BX...

P.S. Gotta luv that Geforce3 with Tualatin 1193 MHz. Quake III Arena @ 1024x768 = 180 FPS :Q

Very impressive. I hope the prices on it aren't to steep when it comes out.

i think it is a good step for the p3.. i think it would have been a bad move for intel to get rid of the p3.. at least this keeps the p3 in the race SOME..

don't count on intel pushing the p3 much, though it looks as if p3 will become the "value" brand, so they may be cheaper than dirt!

wonder what kind of power consumption these boys have? should make for some good notebook chips

Maybe this is one way Intel is dealing with the P4 and Rambus fiasco?

I personally would rather buy an Athlon + DDR than buy a RDRAM system, just for principle of the thing. While I don't hate RDRAM the technology, I hate Rambus enough to be swayed away from RDRAM if other viable options are available. With the current state of computing, both the Athlon and Tualatin are in the running, especially since RDRAM costs so damn much at the moment.

AND DAMMIT WHY CAN'T I FIND ANY INFO ON THE BX TUALATIN RUMOURS!?!?!!? (Note: I have a BX mobo. )

Did you see where it says "C$pU□w pole melon CAK-38□□ the reed bed recommends ¤ù " . . . . if that is correct - I'd like to see the cak-38 against the pole melon . . .

I heard that these won't be avialable until October - they had better be low priced by then! Especially if it only works on the 815-EP chipset.

Is this a different chip then the one Toms hardware teste, his Q3 scores had the athlon beating the higher clocked tulatin HERE

Oh i see, 512 L2 hmmm, interesting this tulatin can take the T-bird in that FPU test?? Can anyone explain?

Quake 3 is very ram intensive, it will take everything you can give it. When we go from pcxxx ram to ddr, the athlon systems only gain about 5% in most benches. BUT Q3 gets a 10%-12% increase in frame rate, it likes large and fast ram, and nothing is faster that L2. Plus consider the fact that in toms test he used DDR and in this one pc-166 was used, well, you get the idea.

Looks to be a nice chip, but it needs ALOT of thing to make it successful:

* a Solid CHEAP motherboard (and DDR board) and work with BX.
* 256 L2 ver. to be priced agaist the Duron.
* 512 L2 ver. to be priced agaist the Athlon.

Could someone give me a link to a little preview of these TUALATIN chips, especially the standard versions which will be found in stores around the corner for a normal price since i'm not willing to pay for server-chips at server-prices.

Thanks in advance.

Looks promising but much more benchmarking remains to be seen. Pricing will dictate whether this chip will be a great value performer or an overpriced server chip.

This kills me, if this Tualotin proccessor performs very well against the athlon, how are they going to position it in the market. If it can beat the athlon, then it will also beat the P4 in the majority of the benchmarks. Its going to hurt their own high end sales?? I wonder if they will try a cripple it much like they did with the celeron after it started eating into the P3's sales? Or more likely, they will only sell this proccesor to laptop manufacturers.
