From the product page:
Product Requirements

* Drivers
:Q :Q :Q

the prices on tualatin celerons arent that great, but you can get one on ebay for about $40 for a 1.3 celeron.
Product description says supports up to 1.2 GHz. Just thought I'd point that out.

unclebud,

Your linked page is for a wrong model (MS-6315 instead of MS-6318).

I do not find the board on MSI's website. If that's the case, it could be an OEM board and might not come with any overclocking feature.

If this board could run Tualatin Celeron @ 133Mhz FSB, it would be a good deal.

I looked at this board earlier today and came to the conclusion, not for me. There is one bios update in the MSI archives with very little said. The comparison with the 6309-470 looks very different from this micro version. I went ahead and purchase the 6309-470.

I'm sure the ones from Compgeeks will be fine but note they come with no accessories.

In the manual it says that the board supports overclocking. However, I could not find any way of chaning FSB either on-board (i.e. jumpers or dip switches) or in the BIOS.

It looks that the board detect the CPU and set the FSB automatically.

Tualatin boards are hard to find at a cheap price like this, but most people would want one that runs at 133 FSB at default voltage. Nice find though for the Tualatins that are not stable over spec.

tualatin 1.0's are pretty easy to get to 1.33 even without voltage tweaks. y ou can get them on ebay for about $55 shipped retail box.

i personaly bought this board for use witha 1.1 celeron tualatin and 512mb pc133 that i just got. should make a very nice el cheap box.

Sesopedalian and hans007,

Do you guys think that this board can run Tualatin Celeron on 133Mhz bus? I looked through the manual but could not find any setting to force 133Mhz bus. Otherwise, I would have considered about getting this. I do not worry too much about voltage tweak. My Tualatin Celron, for example, can easily run at 1,333Mhz at default voltage.

i havent gotten it yet, but i just got a 1.1 tualatin, i'm assuming it can do it , since the spec's say it can run p3's at 1.2. i'm sure that it can support 1.3 and 1.4 celerons and p3s just the manual had not been updated.

the 694t chipset is 133 bus capable. and this is gonna make a great 2nd box. i got a case on ebay new for $16 shipped!!! i might actually be able to build a system for less than $200 that is really loaded. thanks to fs/ft ebay and hotdeals.

I don't know if you got my question right. I believe that the board would support 1.3 and 1.4 Celeron and 1.26 and 1.4 P3 regardless of what the manual says as long as you run them at stock speed.

Instead, what I was asking was if you think that you can force 133Mhz bus on 100Mhz bus Celeron (or 100Mhz bus on 66Mhz Celeron) using this motherboard. I did not see any jumper or BIOS setting in the manual for that. Many MicroATX motherboards do not come with any overclocking features, and I am not so sure that this board is going to come with one.

Of cource, the new BIOS upgrade could give this feature, but the board only had one BIOS update quite sometime ago.

Anyway, keep us updated.

oh my mistake. i guess i'll find out this weekend, my board already shipped and i'm only 40 miles from newegg. i'll let you all know.

In my post I said that people that have tualatin chips would want to run them at 133 Mhz FSB. I didn't say that the board being discussed here could do that. In fact, I would guess that it probably can not, because it will automatically detect the processor and set the bus speed at 100 Mhz. As others have pointed out, there may not be a way to manually set FSB speed from the auto detect defaut of 100 Mhz, to the desired 133 Mhz. Now it may be true that it is easier to overclock the lower speed Celerons because of the lower multiplier, success is more likely with a voltage tweak. The data at overclockers.com suggest your best bet is a 1.1 tualatin over a 1.0. 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 are less likely to reach 133 Mhz FSB speed, but if they do consider yourself lucky.

To GAIN FSB SETTINGS, DO THE FOLLOWING AT YOUR OWN RISK:

Download newest bios.

Download Modbin6, preferrably newer version(s). While you're at that 'site, download "BIOSVIEW" too if you'd like to see the changes you make below before flashing bios.

Modbin6 NEEDS more space than a floppy can provide, so run it from folder created on HDD, with above BIOS file in same folder. It can be ran from pure DOS or Windows DOS box.

Load Modbin6, select the BIOS file (needs renamed to *.bin for Modbin to show in menu).
I currently have done this, am staring at the FSB option which can be ENABLED, and will provide the following choices in the BIOS menu:

FSB / PCI

138 35
-----------------

Make appropriate changes to enable these, save BIOS, flash BIOS, you should have FSB settings.
I would not expect future MSI BIOS to have enabled support for FSB since they didn't already, so any new later bios you'd flash would of course also need modded.

NOte that I don't have this motherboard, can't test this. Done properly, at worst you should have the settings visible but not actually implemented, in which case you could leave it alone or reflash unaltered BIOS. Let me say again, do this at your own risk... This works on similar motherboards but YMMV.

well for anyone who cares.

i got the board. first the splash screen starts up and says "fujitsu siemens" so it was an oem board. i flashed it with the newest bios from 2001 on MSI's site.

well it boots and says i have a p3 333mhz (i have a celeron 1100 tualtin installed).

it also has no o/c tweaks at all in bios. still was a decent deal at $30ish
