2 minor asterisk's in your post..

1- cable tv is dying.. people are cord cutting if they already haven't. That cuts into revenue

2- pretty sure they're losing sponsors who see the new customers are progressive and not fascist

Why don't we compare ratings & viewers, which are the real numbers. Not general overall trends.

Also Fox News doesn't make most of its money from sponsors, they make most of their money from how much they charge providers to carry Fox products, and they make sure Fox News MUST be included in those packages or else they get nothing. It's their business strategy.

I emailed YouTubeTV to try to remove Fox News from my package and not pay them, but they can't do it. There are some good articles on Fox's business strategy, this is why Tucker could afford to have big advertisers bow out, Fox is making a killing on the viewer numbers.

Sure, but that doesn't change the facts of how Fox makes its money.

A lot of people still use cable, or they use a streaming service for channels like YouTubeTV or Hulu or others. Fox is getting paid and their viewer numbers have been incredible

How Fox makes it's money. Fox News is the lions share of Fox corporations profits, like the massive lion's share.

I have read their business model in various mainstream media, but this cute website sums it all up

1- It's been dead to me since early 2020 when we cut the cord.

2- 3+ years of virtually no commercials... it's amazing!

I made a joke, or an attempt, earlier in this thread that I would almost want to watch Faux to see the fall-out... Almost!
The reality is, I really can't... that cord is cut.

I did that in 2015.. I wish I had done it earlier but that first Trump press conference where he came down the escalator was enough.

I didn't want to pay for that garbage!

I also wish I had done it earlier. We had Netflix, and Prime which was probably the majority of our TV, but had cable for a few network shows we followed, and local news coverage. Local station is a Sinclair trumphumper, so dumping them was also a blessing.
Still can follow a few shows we follow by subscribing to Paramount, and commercial free. Plus still cheaper than the cable with 100+ channels we never watched.

It's great that some people go tv-free, whether from cable or tv channel streaming services. But the fact remains, many people shouldn't have to in order to enjoy content they watch - and thus the Fox News business model works. That is the simple reality.

Lololol new speculation is that Rupert personally fired Tucker because his ex-fiancée was a bit too…umm…infatuated with him. He called off the engagement because she thought Tucker was a gift from God, and when Tucker got all preachy at the Heritage Foundation dinner on Friday night, Rupert had had enough.

Just like Logan Roy, Rupert reportedly got a kick out of canceling his ex-fiancée’s favorite TV show!!! LOLOLOL!!!!

Wouldn’t be surprised. Pretty obviously it wasn’t a professional issue for his axing. So it’s a personal one.

On Reddit, some conservatives are fully conscious and even think it's a good idea: Carlson lied, he's out, we're better for it. I have, however, seen some who thought it was a shame because Carlson was "good."

No. They're not. They say Carlson should be out for lying, and yet they still believe the election was stolen, along with other crap.

I'm free trialing Fubo to be able to watch the Mariners when the Kraken playoff pushes them to streaming. At least finally, Root Sports made it possible. Exploring Fubo, it looks like there is everything I watch available and more for $90 a month. Wondering what the increase in internet bill will be. I watch a lot.

Here's a couple more "theories" to add to the shit pile.

"The source said Carlson’s speech was laced with religious overtones that were too extreme even for Murdoch. During the address, Carlson called abortion “child sacrifice,” cast American politics as a battle between “good and evil” and suggested the solution was taking “10 minutes a day to say a prayer about it.”

The source told Vanity Fair, “that stuff freaks Rupert out.”

“He doesn’t like all the spiritual talk,” the source said."

And murdoch's ex GF really liked tucker carlson

"Sherman reported at the time that Murdoch had called it quits because of Smith’s outspoken evangelical views and her thoughts on Carlson, who she reportedly believed was a “messenger from God.”"

Since I haven't watched a professional ball game (overpaid brainless jocks) in decades, catching any game isn't on my list.

As someone who is actively researching streaming alternatives (FUVM Youtube TV, with your increasingly bloated lineup and price increases) it's pretty hard to find a semi-decent streaming service that doesn't include Fox News and/or ESPN-two high priced networks I never watch. My wife is a MSNBC addict and the cheapest bundle that includes MSNBC seems to be Sling Blue, which is otherwise pretty unappealing lineup to me.

BTW my guess as to why Carlson was canned is that his leaked emails about Tucker destroyed any value he had to the Fox propaganda machine.

Rupert sucks big time but he's not insane and ain't going to listen to that bullshit at home. He could turn on his channel if he wanted to.

Hmm. Guy who engages in spiritual talk is willing to promote evil on live TV
