It amazes me how these apparently heavy, high mounted coolers don't damage mobos.

My Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme beats this and it doesn't give me that impression. This, coming from a guy who screamed at his monitor when he heard that Intel had a new retention mechanism and that the case motherboard tray mounting method (introduced with s423) was being phased out. It does bug me that it turns a little when installed, but that just helps me out with the last part of the Arctic Silver 5 application instructions (where they suggest twisting *if you can*).

Edit: I didn't realize that the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme was so much smaller than the Tuniq Tower 120 considering the improved performance and higher price.

I was considering both these, the Tuniq and Thermalright, but what scared me away was reviews and reports of the inconsistent and poor finishing of the heatsink faces, with many people having to lap them. In addition, the Tuniq includes 2 piece screws that the head may break off, and the Thermalright has poor fan attachment. Whether one "beats" the other comes down to the factors present in ones own indivdual system.

IMHO there's no issue with the fan attachment of the U120X, the fan is held firmly and I had no issue getting it on the HS. The finish is as-designed according to TR. Mine is flat in 1 direction and slightly convex 90 degrees off of that. This happens to match up very nicely with my e6750. With the fan off a Scythe Ninja on my IP35Pro I get 50C temps at 75F room ambient in a P180b with fans set to low, the CPU at 3.68Ghz (460x8) 1.3v (after droop). I mounted the U120X with the included TR thermal grease.
