Is this being discontinued or replaced? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone know any more info or a reputable spot to purchase it?

It's just very popular. Have you tried jab-tech? If it's not urgent, wait a few weeks and it will probably come back.

No not too urgent, I just have been noticing my temps going up quite a bit with my Scythe installed with the ambient temps increasing with the season. I've reseated the Scythe a few times but don't really like the push pin mounts because I don't think I got a good seal. I was hoping because the Tuniq has the backplate and the screw heads I would be able to get a better seal. My specs are below. Can you use the THERMALRIGHT ULTRA 120 EXTREME without a fan, or does it ship with a fan. I know in the review here they added a fan. What type of results can you expect without the fan?

There is a mod to make the Scythe mounted with springs. Search for it, I saw a guide on xtremesystmes I think.

Hey thanks for the heads up, that looks like the way to go, now if I can find the hardware to do it.

I almost lost a finger trying to get a good seating on my scythe ninja so its out! Well the amount of blood made me think the finger was about to go but it was just a deep cut. I immediately pulled my Zalman 9700 from my internet-torrent rig- and my temps are awesome again. I spent the better part of 2 months trying to get that thing to work, well off and on, the LGA 775 clips need to die a horrible death in a rear end accident in a corvair.

Xoxide is OOS now.

I think I got the last one from SVC...it was delivered today, and when I went up there an hour ago to show a co-worker the specs, it was shown as OOS.

fyi the TT bolt-thru kit works with the scythe.

i modded mine and it beat having to fiddle with that xtreme systems mod since it wasnt much of a mod, just use a competitor's retention system.

i used washers so the springs put the most pressure possible since the threading on the screws is not too lengthy:

I just got mine in from SVC today. Looks like they're now OOS too. It's great. I'm idling at 27C right now on an E6600 and I can't even hear it. This is even with no/piss poor cable management (bunch them all together in an area that shouldn't get hot).

Tuniq Tower 120 is still 'the one'!

I'm running a P4 S478 3.4GHz Extreme Edition. Check the temps...

Stock Settings

Mild Overclock

As you can see, running @ 3.4GHz, the CPU is the same temp as the mobo...

Unbelievable!

I'm not sure how accurate ASUS's onboard temp monitor is (both their bios or their software monitor), but my E6300 @ 2.8 GHz was idling at ambient (21-22°C) with a Tuniq Tower I picked up from Frozen CPU last month with the fan at 1300 rpm. Unfortunately, my northbridge temp seems to be between 41-51°C.

I know it works with Vista 32, haven't tried 64. In 32 you just need to right click and select run as administrator for it to work.

Tuniq Towers never fail to amaze!

I don't now how long they've been around, but the design has never changed...

Nobody, including Sunbeam, has ever come up with anything better. It's still the one to beat...

Think about how stagnant the HSF marketplace would be, if it wasn't for the Tuniq Tower 120 challengers!

Everybody claims to build a Tuniq Tower Killer, but they've been OOS worldwide for the last year...

How can this be?!?!?!

Dude!

I've never seen anything like it!!!

I have no idea what the fascination is over the Tuniq.. there are several heatsinks out that outperform it with much less noise.. It had its day but its time is up like all things, move on people..

And what do you feel beats the Tuniq Tower? I am just wondering? The only thing I have seen that does is a ThermalTake 120 Extreme, and even then it only wins because of the aftermarket fan. Put the same fan on the Tuniq and do the same test and I think results will show the Tuniq has the crown again.

That said, I am having issues installing my Tuniq Tower. It is a real pain in the @$(% to get on properly, especially with my motherboard and case. I may have to use something else, but I think I may run into the same problems.

But the Tuniq is louder than an Ultra 120/Ultra 120 Extreme with a 1200rpm Scythe S-Flex? Not to mention it's super easy to install (the Ultra.

Bwahahaha! B.S.

Here's a *screenie* from this morning (different thread)...

For anti-Tuniq retards, this is my idle temps @ 1500 RPM (silent) fan speed...

If you'll notice, my CPU temp is actually below the mobo temp.

Talk is cheap! Let's see some proof...

The Gallatin is an exceptionally cool-running proc to begin with. I have a slower one that I overclocked to 3.5, and was surprised to see it idle at 43 and top out at 55 under load...using the stock HSF. I dropped the temps after adding a Zalman 7000.

Don't get me wrong...I'm looking forward to getting my mobo next week, so I can drop in my X6800 and Tuniq and get moving...

OK gah! Thermaltake != Thermalright. The Thermalright Ultra 120 and Ultra 120 extreme both outperform the Tuniq. And unlike the Tuniq you can choose what balance of airflow and noise you want out of your fans. Personally, I would slap a Nexus on it and trade off an extreme OC for a mostly noiseless system. But it is quibbling. . . it's like arguing between a Ferrari and a Lamborghini, either way you have a great sports car. I think what's offputting is people running around implying that mounting a Tuniq is equivalent to Jesus Christ personally cooling your CPU. It gets a bit tired.
