For the original Ultra 120, you have to go balls-out on overclocking to beat Tuniq. It's not a decisive victory...at heavy overclocks or no overclock, the two are essentially equal performance.
And unlike the Tuniq you can choose what balance of airflow and noise you want out of your fans.
My Tuniq came with an adjustable 120mm fan, which includes a manual control that will variate the speed from 1000 to 2000 RPM.
Personally, I would slap a Nexus on it and trade off an extreme OC for a mostly noiseless system.
As above, it'll be pretty silent if dialed down. Personally, I'm throwing in a Yate Loon 1300 blue LED fan.
I think what's offputting is people running around implying that mounting a Tuniq is equivalent to Jesus Christ personally cooling your CPU. It gets a bit tired.
The Tuniq is too wicked-looking to be compared to Jesus. My favorite thing about it is that the fan is completely hidden.

So now that I got this and I'm ready to install it this weekend, which do you think is better? The stock fan or a Scythe SFF21F 1600RPM?

I'd run it at the stock fan on low setting with the included controller (~1400 rpm for me is silent) and see if your temps are what you're looking to achieve. The fan is capable of moving a lot of air at 2000 rpm, but it is very loud when I turn it up to max.

On a related note - any tips on installing this damn thing? Got one last week from Xoxide, I just spent about 4 hours trying to install on a s939 system. I'm starting to lose feeling in my thumb. My strategy is 1) screw in the top screw just enough to hold 2) Hold down bottom end of H-bracket with left thumb while 3) Pushing/turning screw with right hand

vote - AS5 or the included goop? I've heard it's very good - it's very viscous and gummy, interesting

Edit - OK I was trying this whole time to install the HSF with the springs in between the screw head and the bracket, as per the instructions. I just screwed it in without the springs and it seems pretty secure. I'll try it out, sorry for the OT post.

I used AS5 and I had no issues installing it. I installed it before putting the motherboard in the case.

Just because something newer comes along doesn't mean an existing solution stops working.

If my car gets 35 mpg and a new model car comes out that gets 40 mpg does my current car stop getting 35?

Obviously the TT is still working very well for a lot of people.

You definitely want to install these large tower coolers with the mobo removed from the case ( you need to any way so that you can install the back plate of the Tuniq Tower 120). It's much easier to install the screws for it when you have space around it to tighten them up evenly. With the Tuniq on, I can barely reach the 4 pin power plug and the screw hole in the upper left hand corner of my P5W DH mobo.

Heh!

I don't know where this came from, but yes -- absolutely!

Um...

Ppl aren't that stupid, are they -- that they would try to install a Tuniq without removing the mobo?!?!?!
