We've got boxes of Tupperware still in the garage that we don't have room for in the kitchen...much of it from the 60s and 70s.
One of my favorite Tupperware items is their citrus peeler...those things just fckn work.

Their storage containers (especially the more "modern" varieties are sturdier and work better than the competition. I hate to see them fold.
I bet Amazon has it.. brb.

I mean of course they do. For $6.99 lmao.

Oranges: can't you do the same thing with a regular knife?
cut the skin along the equator then use the knife to pop the skin off?

i don't think i've ever used one much less seen one used. seems easier to cut up citrus like i were segmenting it and throw away the peels.

I still have tupperware cups and plates. At least 50 years old now. Still use em. These things last forever.

Damn we had those also. I can pretty much guarantee we threw those out when cleaning out my parent's house. Of course I ended up keeping half a basement full of worthless furniture which I still have more than a decade later.

Sometimes it's surprising what's worth money. The family kitchen table, one of those 1950's linoleum topped stainless steel tubular leg metal tables so used that the linoleum pattern was worn off in places we sold for like $500 and from what I've heard since they are still going up in value.

My wife's grandmother had that table, same color and pattern. My grandmother had the same table with a red top and my mom had one with a black and white top. Solid as a rock.

That style table with the metal rim is such a classic. Reminds me of an old style diner or truck stop or something. Need the leather booths to go with it, and those rectangular stainless steel napkin dispensers, while Mr. Sandman is playing on the Juke Box on an endless loop because the record inside is stuck.

And now I'm hungry for a big plate of poutine with watered down coke, as I sit in the non smoking section.

Yeah that's the type of table. Apparently worth a surprising amount of money now.

I have this set: ($6)

Therein lies the problem. Tupperware is too easy to copy and lacks exclusivity. They should branch out and market a line of luxury Tupperware-inspired handbags, or shoes, designed by 'Ye.

I like how they didn't cite market saturation. Locked lids are common and even generic ones function just fine.

I mean I don't expect this one-trick pony company to last long.

Also, the quality of the plastic. If you go to a store and poke at it, the Tupperware branded stuff is kinda chintzy. I'm personally a fan of the Rubbermaid (not-disposable) stuff. With the red lids. Sturdy as hell and it lasts forever.

Off topic but related. Anyone know what sort of plastic gets sticky after a couple of decades?

I have plastics on 70+ year old suitcases as well as things I've gotten this century. So strange.

For anyone interested, tried searching and top hits were how to clean it. One part each water and baking soda. Then apply and scrub - I think. Didn't actually read much.

The good lord saw fit to give me TEN "orange peelers" as standard equipment! (five on each hand!)

What I remember of Tupperware is that everything smelled like Kool-Aid and tomato soup. A lot of things kinda tasted plasticky too. Kinda creepy when you think of it.
