You forgot an option - Both. The benefits of a large family. We have one of each and a ham.

Once you've had good fried turkey, you never want to go back to roasted

Roasting here. Just think it tastes better than fried.

Picking up my fresh killed turkey today.

The Turkey Day name sucks because many people cook turkey for Christmas. So is Dec 25, Turkey Day?

I've always wanted to fry a turkey. I bet it would taste better. Thus, I'm voting for fried.

Best turkey roasting recipe:

- 1 can real chick broth
- A few chicken boullion cubes
- A little olive oil
- Spices (garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, basil, sea salt, chili powder)
- cooking butter

Preheat oven at 550.

Rinse off thawed turkey, pat dry. Use folder paper towel or fingers to lightly spread butter on turn skin.

Mix about a cup of liquid combining broth, boullion, and oil. Cut small slit in skin near neck of turkey, use baster to push liquid under skin so it fills up along back and edges. Poor another two cups of similar liquid in pan.

Sprinkle generous amounts of spices on turkey (but only light amount of salt and chili).

Place turkey, uncovered, in oven when temp is 550. Turn down to 375 after 5 minutes. Leave turkey in for recommended time based on weight and thermostat (or that popping plug). Every 30 minutes use baster to re-wet turkey with liquid in pan.

Roasted here so I can watch my basset, Fred, lie on the kitchen floor drooling for 4 1/2 hours.

Roast it upside down. In reality the bird would be upside right, with the breast down. Keeps the breast from drying out.

we smoked a turkey last year. it was much tastier than the standard baked turkey... which isn't too impressive, because baked turkey is crap.
