What a shit show. We should understand these are the things that will happen if we get more involved over there, esp if we try to enforce a no fly zone w/o agreement and cooperation with the Russians.
As everyone is backing different horses, that seems unlikely
“Don’t shoot! A hostage is coming, a hostage,”
Where does China stand on this?
On a more serious note, the Chinese will be watching reactions carefully as they gauge how far to go in defending their newly declared air space and territorial waters.
Damnnn. Not good at all. Russia buzzes US airspace a lot, especially lately. Hell they buzzed us (a base on foreign soil I believe) with one of their big ass bear bombers not to long ago. Pretty sure we had the "right" to shoot it down, we were just smarter than that.
Pentagon spokesman in Baghdad says "we were able to hear everything that was going on" when Turks warned Russian plane
Kurds must be happy, going to get a lot of nice Russian arms and go on a Turkey shoot.
10 warnings to leave their airspace before being fired upon. However, it appears that one pilot was shot and one captured... in Syria. So, if they were in Turkish air space when being fired upon, that wind must have been blowing toward Syria to take the pilot's parachutes there. Russia insists they were over Syria. Putin's comment makes it sound like they're not going to escalate anything with Turkey.
edit: appears it was indeed hit over Syria, but had been violating Turkish air space repeatedly.
And how many times the Turks have violated the Syrian/Greek air space. Yeah, the Kurds are likely to benefit the most from this.
Russia is probably going to cut off oil to Turkey. And then Turkey will have to get oil from the Kurds....LOL
I'm not sure of the speed of the missiles versus the jets and all that jazz but is it possible the missile was fired while the plane was in Turkish airspace and hit it after the pilot took evasive measures and ended up in Syrian airspace when it was hit?
Turkey has been warning Russia for weeks to respect it's air space.Unknown nationality? Bullshit.
So they were supposedly in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds?
And the 10 times they were warned was in Syrian airspace.
France and Russia have formed an alliance, though in doing so, they automatically caused Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire to declare war in return, said Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook. And, lets face it, this whole thing really is the fault of the Ottomans when you think about it.
The briefing then shifted to issues surrounding Afghanistan and Pakistan.
There, the situation is much more simple, Cook continued. The US is fighting the Taliban by providing billions of dollars in military aid to Pakistan, which is supporting the Taliban. Basically, its like that scene in The Empire Strikes Back where Luke Skywalker thinks hes fighting Darth Vader, only to find his own face in Darth Vaders helmet. Thats pretty much what weve gotten ourselves into.
